OK, Clary... no cat. I'll just dream about how much I love them. MsOlga, if I were going to get one, I think I'd go to the animal shelter and see if there was an older cat -- full-grown -- who wouldn't mind the attentions of dogs. (The dogs used to be reasonably good to my cat who died this winter.) But, as it happens, not just Clary but another friend is very, very allergic to cats. My house is just reaching the point of being "safe" for him. His wife wanted to wait until we could open lots of doors and windows and totally air it out.

Glad the meeting was fun and you've got the rest of the weekend to enjoy. I wonder how the San Francisco group is doing.

<ahem> Slight headache from lovely wine last night... must go and rest eyes.

Piffka, here's this one for you 'n' me!

Exceeding your comfort level
You're being challenged on all fronts this week, CLARY. Whether at work, at home, in your marriage, or in a love affair, circumstances are forcing you to stretch beyond your limits. Of course, this is a good thing. It's just not very comfortable. Mars and Venus are in Gemini this week, which is your sector of marriage and partnership. If you're married, or living with someone, this is great news. You're finding ways to give and take, although you also may be uncovering some unpleasant truths about how the two of you use and abuse power to get your way. Mercury is back in your romance sector, as of Tuesday. If you're single or dating, this influence will be more problematic. A fight could lead to a temporary or a permanent breakup. Next week's Solar Eclipse marks a critical passage in a budding romance, or in plans to start a family, should you be thinking of children. Jupiter, your planetary ruler, is retrograde in your career sector for another three weeks, putting the brakes on your professional advancement. It's infuriating for goal-oriented Sagittarius. Tuesday's happy trine between Mars and Neptune urges you to go with the flow, rather than fighting the current.

Glad I'm away from the relationships but it's pants about the career... I did hope to make some progress there! Well, happy boundary-stretching, P!

mine too. I've never yet chosen a cat, they just sort of arrived ... but i wouldn't have been without any of them. Even toothsome Rosie - she's soooooo cuddly when she wants to be and there is absolutely nothing nicer than a warm, cuddly, loving cat to snuggle up with when you are stressed Very Happy

I sometimes wonder about dogs but they do smell doggy and need exercising, bathing, training and cleaning up after (yuk! the poop scoop!) - I love the lines of whippets and grehounds and they seem to have lovely personalities - and they would be great to draw! I don't think Rosie would like one though - and her teeth and claws are very sharp if she chose to let them know! Twisted Evil and she's pretty nice to draw too

Vivien, my dogs smells like a spice, maybe cinnamon. I don't know why. As Chows, they hide their poop products, which makes them even more delightful. Your Rosie is a sweet kitty though and would most likely prefer no dog in the family!

As I recall, all my cats have been strays of one kind or another. My last two came as kittens; young brothers who needed homes. They were unexpected but well-loved. My first cat was a mother cat who had kittens and was dumped. We let her raise her kittens and then we found homes for them. She was still the most darling of all --- smart, gorgeous, totally loving. Ahhh, if I could have another Winston (named for the box in which she was found).

Ms.Olga -- Mr.P is a sweetie and all that, but apparently he thinks there is a mouse or two in the house. He had an ulterior motive!

Clary -- Sounds like we'll need to hold firm this week and not allow ourselves to be overly-challenged by our mates or any others. (So what's new? That would be those ego-muscles getting flexed!)

How do our weeks coincide, Piffka? I am at the end of one of the loneliest weeks of my life, and preparing to sit in an office with strangers whiel staying at an alien guesthouse... very little human contact. It is so rare for me that I wonder if you have had anything like a similar experience - disjointed? If not, then predictive astrology is crap like everyone says! It's still good for character though.

Well, Olga's fortunes are set to turn - she has a new pair of <very cute> red shoes!

Clary - I think of you alone, tapping away - in HK! We're all listening and talking to you.

Great fun was had in Melbourne, in unusually good weather. We considered writing rude words on the walls of Olga's ex-'s place of employment, but middle-aged commonsense took over! Pity, really!!

Melbourne is different to Sydney - no-one wears hats there in the sun. Apart from me, we say only one other female wearing a sun-type hat - and she was probably a tourist.

There is something so great about red shoes, they'll always make a day go better. But, Margo, what is the story on MsOlga's red shoes?

Clary -- Are you speaking of last week? It was not lonely for me, but it was filled with strife and dissent in two groups with which I'm connected. Loneliness may have been preferable. In both cases I had to make strong (for me) statements, which seemed, in both cases, to move the groups to new levels, or at least to move on.

Now this coming week looks to be a little lonely. Today I was scheduled for a four-hour dental appointment... long enough and awful enough that I was given drugs to keep me nearly comatose. Well, some sort of electrical problem occurred at the dentist's office and after 2 1/2 hours with little being done except for me waiting patiently... I was sent home (chauffeured by my long-suffering son). I go back on Wednesday to try again. To me, this will be two days lost as I expect on Wednesday to be forced to sleep off my Xanax again. These drug-induced comas are lonesome.

Traveling by yourself can naturally be lonesome and I've wondered, Clary, how you've managed. Possibly the thing to do is find an interesting man and have a short-lived affair??? It is bound to get better though for you, I'm sure of it. Are you kept occupied with reading? Could you take some little class or seminar? Is there a short-term tour you could go on? Virtual hugs being sent your way!!!

It's fine, Pff, and I was just indulging my self-pity muscle (!?) - the thought of a brief affair in the HK wilderness is absolutely ghastly, how funny!!
It'll be fine, but I hope your week gets better, especially the dentist - owwww! Hugs to you too!

Olga met me at the hotel, and we were walking down the street, through the main shopping strip, and we came across this not-inexpensive shoe shop.

Now, I had been looking at shoes in Sydney, of this type, (Rockports, Joseph Siebel, ecco, etc.). Here they all seemed much cheaper. We go to look and try (turns out Olga is another secret shoe-nut!). I have my usual problem - they don't stock shoes long enough for my oh-so-elegant, but elongated, foot. We look at lots of shoes, including these cute red ones, and I know they won't have my size, but Olga tries them on, and guess what!: MAGIC!.

Comfortable, well-fitting, suitable, and RED! - what's not to love????? They followed her home Laughing Cool

Sounds terrific, Margo... oh boy... shoe shopping... Congrats on your purchase, MsOlga!

Glad I coaxed a smile out of ya, Clary. A ghastly thought??? <snort> The pickin's must indeed be slim.

Pisces Horoscope for week of May 27, 2004

I predict that some of you overly sensitive Pisceans will soon be beaten down by the cold, cruel world. Maybe you'll move in with your parents or flee to the middle of nowhere and live off the grid in a log cabin. Similarly, more than a few of you Piscean artists, actors, writers, and musicians will get weary of the uphill battle to make a living from doing what you love. You'll think about selling out, seeking dull but secure gigs in the corporate world. But I'm begging all of you not to give up. Please continue your heroic struggles to be true to yourselves. If you can manage to hold on a while longer, you will be blessed with a breakthrough no later than September 1.
