i like david "big papi" ortiz over a-rod in the AL.
albert pujols over andruw jones by a nose in the NL...
I can't argue - I love Papi. He has been my favorite since he came to the Red Sox.
There is not one thing about Papi not to love.
i say its Posednik
and the Pujols
Screw posednik the sox are about to lose the division title to my Indians (definately wasn't expecting that back in may lol).
I'lll make it the Papi although I hate the red sox.
Gotta love Papi, and the Sox. They're a team that all teams should look at and say, "we need to be like that"
Ortiz.
Anyone that says he doesn't deserve it because he's a DH should be slapped in the mouth. Some of these writers are tools. If a pitcher can be an MVP, than a DH most certaintly can.
By the way, GayRod is #2 in the league for errors by a third baseman(or this is what I heard from a caller on the radio).
Ortiz would be deserving, I suppose, but I still would cast my vote for Shigetoshi Hasegawa.
I just think he has a really cool-sounding name.
Hey check it out...
Travis Hafner (from my Indians) for MVP.
He beats Big Papi.
ok, lets look at the all-important tale of the tape...

no contest, bro!
(yeah, i'm biased...)
Lol I know big Papi has all the stats over Hafner. But it's Most Valuable Player, not necessarily who has the best stats.
Check out this article about it

Not all about stats. Ortiz has hit a lot of game winning home runs, and at least 17 have been after the seventh inning. Their record wouldn't be near the same without him.
Quote:Their record wouldn't be near the same without him.
I jsut looked at the standings and I'm scared. Since when the hell have the YANKEES been in first place...
Darn you Red Sox can't even keep them Yankees out of October. Cleveland has done its job of securing the Wild Card the least y'all could do is win the division.
the sawx are lulling them damn yankees into a false sense of security...
MVP
AL - I'm thinking Ortiz because he is 'the man' on baseball right now and those 140 rbis will surely help his cause.
NL - Pujols, although being Pujols I know he could've done a little better.
Cy Young
AL - Colon, if the LAA don't make the playoffs I say Santana
NL - Willis, just becuase I have to say someone.
JoeFX, good idea to include pitching.
i've edited the title of the thread accordingly...
if they don't go with an AL reliever (rivera & wickman have been locked in all year), colon should take the CY.
carpenter has the edge over willis in the NL...
MVP:
AL: David Ortiz
Now, if the Cleveland Indians make it to the postseason, I would vote for Victor Martinez.
If you look at the development of the season, when Victor's bat was weak, the Indians sucked; he woke up, and was key to carry his team into contention.
NL: Andruw Jones
Cy Young:
NL: Chris Carpenter
Dontrelle Willis (my preseason favorite) will get 2nd place in votes.
Roger Everlasting Clemens, 3rd place
AL: Bartolo Colón
Mark Buehrle
Mariano Rivera (but they won't vote for a closer)
Santana had a sub-par season.
Andruw's low batting average will cost him too many votes...
Yeah, poor chap, he only leads handily in HRs and RBIs.
if derek lee's average was still up in the .370 range, he'd prolly get more votes (despite the cubs' mediocre season)...
