Elin Nordegren claims Victim Status

Tiger Woods' ex-wife Elin Nordegren said she has ``been through hell'' since her husband's infidelity surfaced but she never hit him, according to an interview released Wednesday.

She just won the lottery, got a 3/4 billion dollar settlement that will expand with payments directed to the kids, and she wants to be the victim?? Please...

Quote:
``I'm so embarrassed that I never suspected - not a one. For the past 3 1/2 years, when all this was going on, I was home a lot more with pregnancies, then the children and my school.''

When she learned of Woods' infidelities, Nordegren said she felt ``absolute shock and disbelief.''
She should be embarrassed for marrying a man who she knew so little about, and had so little idea of that he did with his time. This is actually very difficult to believe unless she did not care what he did.

@hawkeye10,
You dont think shes allowed to vent her anger and frsutration and total rejection by her spouse?
By your seeming inability to empathize, you are devoid of any feelings.

@hawkeye10,
For some reasons I still find it hard to believe she didn't have any clue.
Either way she didn't deserve this.

BTW I also believed she attacked him with the golf club.

She is allowed to sell her victim story, but I think less of her for doing so. I dont have any sympathy for either of them, I'll save my feelings for those who deserve it tyvm.

in my circle the conventional wisdom is that they were both screwing around outside the marriage, that they were both fine with it. In this theory her anger came from him being stupid, and making his activities public knowledge, thus putting at risk the brand and humiliating her.

I love this take

Quote:
There's no chance that Tiger is going to address this mess anytime soon, so Elin had the court of public opinion all to herself, and she played it perfectly. To hear her tell it, she's almost a saint.

But the fact remains that there's always going to be a segment of the public who consider Elin a conniving opportunist. She's a nanny who got the world's richest athlete to marry her, and cashed in for $100 million-plus. I can't help but think of the Woody Allen movie Love and Death here:

SONJA: "I guess you could say I'm half saint, half whore."
BORIS: "Here's hoping I get the half that eats."

I'm also thinking of Ray Romano, as strange as that sounds. It was at a celebrity golf tournament at Lake Tahoe a couple of years ago, when Romano was seen ogling a gorgeous lady near the first tee. A man in the gallery yelled out, "What's your wife going to say?" And Romano replied, "Tell her to go cry on a bag of my money."

No matter how deftly Elin plays the victim's role from now on, there are always people who are going to tell her to go cry on a bag of Tiger's money. That's probably not fair, but that's the way it is.

She might have known and she might not have known. The fact that she divorced him when she says she found out says something to me. No matter what, no woman deserves to be treated like that and for that matter, no man would deserve a woman to do that to him either.

When you really love someone and you lose them or are betrayed by them, money means nothing when it comes to healing a broken heart.

Had you read the piece you would have noticed that she claims to have resisted divorce, she tried to fix things, but it was not to be. That throws a monkey wrench into your theory.

What difference does it make whether who knows what happened between two people getting a divorce? The marriage has failed, reconcillation didn't happen.
The famous golfer was very rich, hence the large settlement. It's called no-fault divorce.

We the people made the Tiger brand, this was always our business, we are invested. elin made it more our business when she did a 19 hour interview with people magazine as part of her PR effort to sell her sob story. She decided to do that, and now WE get to decide how to judge her for that act.

I wasn't real clear in suggesting that it makes no difference whether or not Elin knew her Tiger was seeing other women, or if she was doing the same, seeing other men. Least of all, isn't it the court's decision concerning just how much money she will receive from the divorce? Tiger seems to be the loser as Elin will be out of the public's eye, which is probably what she wants. Frankly, I don't judge her at all, or him.

@hawkeye10,
Sorry, but Elin is not to be blamed for "marrying a man she knew so little about." Many people are talented at hiding their true selves.

You hate women. I suspect that you never met Elin so can the comments. She married a man she thought she could make a life with and he turned out to be a jerk.

When she has claimed victim status based upon the fact that he was screwing around and she bemoans that none of all the people who knew had the decency to tell her I think it makes a huge difference if she knew all along an approved. Her entire claim of victim hood would in that case be a lie.

It is not like Tiger was particularly talented at hiding his bimbo's, one wonders what it would take to get Elin's attention...

He obviously was pretty talented at hiding them for a LONG time. It's obvious it was not comon knowledge because when it hit the news, it was made rather clear how in the dark most were about it. When his wife found out, she DUMPED him just like a bunch of his sponsors dumped him! What part of that don't you get hawkeye? If she approved of it all along she wouldn't have dumped him.
