@jespah,
ive been working only my upperbody/arms lately

i figure my shoulders neck arms chest/back need the most work. at first..

now i know why they call us skinny folk hardgainers jesus christ.

downing 60 grams of protein after my workouts isnt even making a dent, ima need heavier weights...

and i need professional gym equipment, like a bar for squats i cant do squats and those are the best exercise i could do...

@OGIONIK,
Thank you. I was. I've officially lost as much as, well, as it would be for me to be at the upper limit of a healthy weight for me: 154 lbs. My intention is to go to 146 but we'll see how that goes; those last few pounds can be soooo difficult to drop.

You lost 154 lb. already? Wow, that's so impressive, jespah. Just losing 20 lb
is such a struggle, never mind 154 lb. Kudos to you!!

I haven't done much the past week - seems like I not only brought back tons
of chocolate from Europe but also a nasty flu. Taking Tamiflu - just in case!

@OGIONIK,
Thanks, CJane - and feel better soon.

Hmm, Ogi, weight gain. Heh, I should just donate you some of mine.

But seriously, you may need to eat more calorically dense foods. Not go crazy with cholesterol and fat, but more calorie bang for the buck than you've been eating. That can translate into meats, cheeses, foods with sauces, again not going overboard with fat.

You want weight but you want it to be muscle mass I take it, so you need to get these extra calories from more protein sources and not so much from fat or carb sources. Think steak versus fettucine alfredo.

Potatoes are fine, so is pasta, just not too much butter in the sauce. You do need carbs, of course (everybody needs all of that stuff), probably would be better to stay away from things that are too refined, like white rice, white grain pasta, that kind of thing. Hope this helps.

@jespah,
Magic mile info (I just learned about this, it's a nice little calculator, a predictor of race times): http://www.jeffgalloway.com/resources/gallracepredict.html

That's a great link. I used it, first, to see if I could beat it. I couldn't. Since then I used to to see if I am making any progress. I am. It's a much better marker than seeing how many old men in my age group I can beat.

@Joe Nation,
How's everyone doing? I'm plugging along with the 4X / week schedule. My two-mile run is reliably nonstop (upping the speed, not that fast yet though) and I've started doing running intervals instead of walk/run intervals. (Formerly: walk 1/4 mile, run fast for 1/4 mile, walk 1/4 mile, etc. Now: run slowly for 1/4 mile, run fast for 1/4 mile, run slowly for 1/4 mile, etc.)

A bit ago I both a) changed some medication and b) added an exercise (medicine ball warm-ups) and my weight loss stalled around then. Not sure if I'm building up new muscles with the mb warm-up (my arms are definitely more toned) and so my weight is staying the same even though fat continues to burn off, or if the med change is to blame. Will just keep pushing through it and see what happens.

I haven't gotten back in the groove of working out 6x/week since I've been travelling so much. I realized today that a lot of my focus was getting in as good a shape as possible for the Italy trip. I need a new reason to exercise! Or perhaps I need to remember the old reason. Working on that...

@mac11,
I wiped out RP playing frisbee yesterday. 'Course I was throwing in the shade and he was throwing and running in the sun, but still! Smile

My knees are still achy and stiff, so I am jogging rather slowly.
I haven't even jogged on a weekend for a month now. Ugh.
I am turning into Jabba the Hutt.

@Region Philbis,
Even when instructed, I often don't throw it at him.

I have aiming issues.
