Cute story, George and it was a great motivation for John to keep up.
85 F? Shocked You had 85 F in Boston, or is this an older story?

Ognio, I thought you're in Ohio as well. What's going on?

@CalamityJane,
That run was on Tuesday. I just looked back at my log -- it was actually 87
but felt even hotter. John's head glowed red for a while afterward. He says
he's going to run again today. It's cooler (64), but the hill hasn't gotten any
flatter.

O'B is a tough little fireplug of a guy. I'm going to try to convince him to
adopt a goal of running a 5K race.

Those are great.

Here's my new toy -

Lights up with LED inside as you spin the thing, gets up to 15k RPM and then wants to tear itself right out of your hand. Great wrist, forearm, and even bicep exercise tool. And you can do it on the couch whilst watching TV.

@OGIONIK,
i think i want to get into MMA

i want to learn
boxing
wrestling
brazilian jiu jitsu
muay thai

I know so little about martial arts, i was thinking boxing for effective and powerfulstrikes, muay thai for more effect closer range strikes and kicks,knees elbows, wrestling for sprawling and defending against takedowns?, and BJJ for its pure effectiveness.

to a lesser extent i want to learn about
tae kwon do
judo
aikido
kung fu
karate
&
kickboxing

@OGIONIK,
These martial arts require a lot of discipline, something you don't seem to
have (yet).

Did pretty well the past week, exercised daily, mostly outdoors now as the
weather is so nice.

@CalamityJane,
I'm posting from the lobby of the Courtyard Marriott in Mission Valley,
San Diego CA.

I jogged from Hotel Circle up Bachman Place (oof, what a hill!) and over to
Balbao Park. At El Prado I turned left, went over the bridge and as far
as the fountain. From there I returned the way I came. A little less than 6 miles.

@George,
Yeah, but from the scenery, the best 6 miles you've ever run, no?

@CalamityJane,
. . . and not only the scenery. The smell of the flowers, shrubs and trees is
exotic and intoxicating to a New Englander.

I jogged around Presidio Park yesterday. It was early in the morning and there
were rabbits all along the trails.

@George,
Presidio park is very nice too! You obviously know the best places around town.
Next time you're heading up to Balboa Park, go to the top of Ash Street (close
to the old El Cortez building) and look down towards the harbor. Both sides
of Ash Street are lined with Jacaranda trees that started blooming now. It's
such a pretty sight.

@CalamityJane,
We were up in Hillcrest this afternoon for coffee and munchies at St. Tropez.
The trees were gorgeous.

@George,
Ah Hillcrest, or "Gaycrest" as we call it fondly. Lots of Jacarandas there too,
yes. The Corvette Diner is a fun place there - 50s style food and interior, waitresses with beehives who sing and dance in between serving meals and
throwing bazooka bubble gum.

Workout this past week was okay. I am still walking up to my 6th floor office
but it never seems to get any easier. By the time I reach the 6th floor, I'm
wheezing and panting like a dog.

Proud to announce that I've lost 15 lbs. Too many bands have broken on the Body By Jake and i don't want to shell out the money for new ones so I haven't been on it in weeks. But I've been walking since January and that's really made the difference. This past week I walked 3 days instead of the usual 2. My goal is 25 lbs. so, just 10 more to go. But let me tell ya. Trying to lose weight is no joke. I'm finding this out for the first time and now I truly understand when my cuz would say that she could gain five lbs. overnight. It's a struggle to lose every single oz.
Yay me!

@eoe,
That's fantastic, eoe!! 15 lb. is no piece of cake, I know. You practically have
to rip off every ounce with me too - weight loss is extremely slow forthcoming. *sigh* Walking is a great exercise !

You know what's really fantastic? The new 100 calorie snack packs that so many food brands offer now. I can get my Cheetos, Doritos, even my Oreos on at just 100 calories! And a nice little fix of Hershey's dark chocolate at 60 calories!! Whoever came up with this idea, which is just a question of packaging and quantity, is an absolute genius.
