Thank you.

@George,
Could you, or anyone capable, confirm these and sight sources? Your help is much appreciated.

@NoIdea,
I'd recommend finding someone else who is familiar with Latin and
running these by them.

hi george,

I see you are very popular and very helpful. If possible, can you translate "love is endless pain" or love is an infinite pain" for me?? Also, "love is a waste of time" I want to see which one looks better for a tattoo. Thank you very much in advance.

@packdinals,
First, let me wish you better luck with love . . .

"love is endless pain" or love is an infinite pain"
In Latin both are translated:
amor dolor infinitus est
The word est ("is") at the end may be dropped.

"love is a waste of time"
amor dissipatio temporis est

Please read this.

@George,
Thanks a lot. Did you study latin or is this really just for fun?

@packdinals,
Studied a ton of Latin back in the day.

I went to a Catholic high school and Latin was required in freshman and
sophomore years. Then I transferred to a school that was a prep for
seminary training and took Latin in my junior and senior years. In the
seminary back then (1964-8) we took even more Latin, including one class
that was taught in Latin.

@George,
Wow, that's great. I wish I would've taken Latin in high school. Thanks very much for the translations.

@packdinals,
Back in the day Latin wasn't just taught in parochial Catholic schools. In Boston public schools in the 1950s and '60s it was available as an elective not only in most high schools but in junior high as well. (I took first year Latin two years in a row Smile)

(I should probably add that I happily defer to George on all maters of proper grammar. My vocabulary is OK but there's a reason why I had to take the course twice. Smile)

@Lustig Andrei,
It should be mundum, not mundem, but otherwise it sounds right.
I assume steveyou means "Take the world" in a similar sense to
"Seize the day." Is that right, steveyou?
