An Army sergeant from the Puckapunyal Base in Victoria has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of weapons and explosives.

A joint operation between Australian Customs investigators and police has uncovered a large number of weapons and ammunition at a Pohlman Street Southport unit address today.

A LARGE cache of weapons and ammunition has been seized by police in a raid on a Gold Coast home today.

Australian Customs investigators and police found 35 legally-held military firearms, three unregistered bolt-action rifles, one military SLR assault rifle, a Skorpion machine pistol, a crossbow pistol and a "substantial amount" of ammunition.

I still don't know what the problem is with having a "LARGE cache of weapons"....assuming they're owned legally.

Its just that it stirs the unreasoning fears
of yellowbellied leftists.

They're Coming to Take Me Away, Ha-haaa!
Remember when you ran away
And I got on my knees
And begged you not to leave
Because I'd go berserk?
Well. . .

You left me anyhow
And then the days got worse and worse
And now you see I've gone
Completely out of my mind
And. . .

They're coming to take me away, HA HA
They're coming to take me away, HO HO HEE HEE HA HA
To the funny farm
Where life is beautiful all the time
And I'll be happy to see
Those nice, young men
In their clean, white coats
And they're coming to take me away, Ha-haaa!

If there was any kind of advertisement for gun control Omsig is it!

I am however seriously concerned that the teasing david receives here may in fact push him over the edge into some kind of revenge scenario. Please everyone take care.

Typical of those that live with an irrational fear of guns. Never concerned about protecting themselves and their families against criminals - let someone else do it. But put a gun in the hand of a law abiding citizen - and they freak out completely.

This is why we should have MANDATORY gun safety and shooting training in high school if not sooner. Our schools should teach our students to study and respect the constitution, including the second amendment, and not constantly attack our rights and feed their garbage to our kids.

I made a mistake earlier. I own four shotguns. Forgot the single shot .410 because I rarely use it (harder than hell to hit a moving object with, and the shells are expensive).

Forgive me, for getting my threads confused.
The reference was to Charles Bronson in his Deathwish movies.

Interesting and pertinent article in today's Detroit paper.

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080106/NEWS06/801060602/1001

Of course the gun grabber types still hold on to their "potential for more violence" even while the facts are prominently held up before their face. Amazing.

I can't imagine that this NY gun nut would get a gun permit in Michigan - not with his background at least.

If a person is really THAT dangerous ( judging from his history )
then polite society shud not be exposed to him.

If he is really MALICIOUS, then he will
run folks over with his truck,
or bom them, or covertly distribute poisons for consumption,
or set arson fires-- THE BOUNDARIES R THOSE OF THE IMAGINATION,
and he has all the time he wants, TO IMAGINE.

The concept that if he is MALICIOUS,
then
the expression of his misanthropy is limited to the use of guns,
is an insult to the intelligence; right, Walter ?

Such a person shud be isolated or BANISHED from this continent.

Our schools should teach, along with the parents, the children how to get along with each other and everybody else. The answer is to create better citizens...NOT weapons experts.

You don't need a gun permit for long guns unless you live in a nazi state like NY or IL.

What is a gun permit? Is that like a license to buy packaged beef at the store?

Absolutely partially correct. They do need to be good citizens yes, and that includes a fundamental understanding of everything guaranteed to them, as long as they keep their nose clean, by the Consitution of the United States. Every child should know how to handle a firearm as soon as they are curious. RESPECT. That is key. They need to know when someone is mishandling a weapon that they need to get out of there ASAP. You can't do that with ignorance which you seem to prefer.
