I don't get why the anti-gun left tries to villify gun owners all the time. That is the point of this thread. Cars, drugs, AIDS... these all kill more people than guns each year. But watch me try to villify bad drivers, those that practice unsafe sex, and the stupid... I'll catch hell here from the left who think those things are individual rights...

If he owned it illegally, then it is. All that stuff looks legal to me.

What part of reason do you not understand? ebp is playing the same game the NYPD is playing. Trying to confuse and dupe an easily duped public who've all been taught in public schools.

So CJHSA,

If it turns out this guy broke the law, either by carrying an illegal (fully automatic) weapon, using a weapon to threaten someone, or by being an illegal dealer... then you won't have any problem with the NYPD's actions in this story?

I also wonder if his prior conviction for arson, or his reported mental health problems are relevant...

You're missing the point and trying to spin. Illegal or not the NYPD should not fear monger in the court of public opinion. And it's a huge reason why Guiliani should never be president.

Here's more crap.

Doctors' kitchen knives ban call

Doctors say knives are too pointed
A&E doctors are calling for a ban on long pointed kitchen knives to reduce deaths from stabbing.
A team from West Middlesex University Hospital said violent crime is on the increase - and kitchen knives are used in as many as half of all stabbings.

They argued many assaults are committed impulsively, prompted by alcohol and drugs, and a kitchen knife often makes an all too available weapon.

The research is published in the British Medical Journal.

The researchers said there was no reason for long pointed knives to be publicly available at all.

They consulted 10 top chefs from around the UK, and found such knives have little practical value in the kitchen.

None of the chefs felt such knives were essential, since the point of a short blade was just as useful when a sharp end was needed.

The researchers said a short pointed knife may cause a substantial superficial wound if used in an assault - but is unlikely to penetrate to inner organs.

Kitchen knives can inflict appalling wounds

In contrast, a pointed long blade pierces the body like "cutting into a ripe melon".

The use of knives is particularly worrying amongst adolescents, say the researchers, reporting that 24% of 16-year-olds have been shown to carry weapons, primarily knives.

The study found links between easy access to domestic knives and violent assault are long established.

French laws in the 17th century decreed that the tips of table and street knives be ground smooth.

A century later, forks and blunt-ended table knives were introduced in the UK in an effort to reduce injuries during arguments in public eating houses.

The researchers say legislation to ban the sale of long pointed knives would be a key step in the fight against violent crime.

"The Home Office is looking for ways to reduce knife crime.

"We suggest that banning the sale of long pointed knives is a sensible and practical measure that would have this effect."

Government response

Home Office spokesperson said there were already extensive restrictions in place to control the sale and possession of knives.

"The law already prohibits the possession of offensive weapons in a public place, and the possession of knives in public without good reason or lawful authority, with the exception of a folding pocket knife with a blade not exceeding three inches.

"Offensive weapons are defined as any weapon designed or adapted to cause injury, or intended by the person possessing them to do so.

"An individual has to demonstrate that he had good reason to possess a knife, for example for fishing, other sporting purposes or as part of his profession (e.g. a chef) in a public place.

"The manufacture, sale and importation of 17 bladed, pointed and other offensive weapons have been banned, in addition to flick knives and gravity knives."

A spokesperson for the Association of Chief Police Officers said: "ACPO supports any move to reduce the number of knife related incidents, however, it is important to consider the practicalities of enforcing such changes."

Hearing you whine about "fear mongering" is great.

Thanks for making me smile.

Actually, Title 38 of the Rules of the City of New York allows more weapons legally in NY city than in any othe part of NY state.

LOL! The only Title 38 the NYPD cares about is the S&W in their holster. (Most carry .45's or .40's these days though).

Typical of those that live with an irrational fear of guns. Never concerned about protecting themselves and their families against criminals - let someone else do it. But put a gun in the hand of a law abiding citizen - and they freak out completely.

This is why we should have MANDATORY gun safety and shooting training in high school if not sooner. Our schools should teach our students to study and respect the constitution, including the second amendment, and not constantly attack our rights and feed their garbage to our kids.

The answer is to create better citizens...NOT weapons experts.

Kids can become weapons experts by themselves.
I did it.
It has to do with where u put your attention.

Tho I did not have access to functional guns until age 8,
I was always very interested in guns, knives n swords since age 3.
I remember lying in bed around that age, thinking about them.

Anti-gun laws VIOLATE the Supreme Law of the Land.

The USSC has repeatedly held that such laws are VOID.

Look at it this way, ebrown:
If Congress ( or a state legislature ) enacted a statute by whose terms
Congress ( or state legislature ) wud remain in office for the next 25 years ( or forever ),
WITHOUT further elections,
then it wud be ILLEGAL to hold elections,
but holding elections is constitutionally REQUIRED.

Therefore, the statute against any more elections is void.

Well, you're the one who studied NY law.

Walter, I 'd love to know your thoughts
about the concept of permanently isolating or BANISHING
violently recidivistic felons, rather than focusing attention
upon one possible instrument that thay can use ( guns ).

That is to say:
concentrate our jurisprudential attention
upon the evil workman,
rather than upon one of his TOOLS.
