I choose freedom too David,
but there has to be a limit as far as weapons are concerned.

WHAT is the limit on the size
of my gun colletion ?

Most of my gun collection
is unrelated to my security concerns,
resulting from my interests in esthetics and in history.

I heard of a man who committed suicide
( according to his death certificate )
by drinking too much water, over several months;
yet, government shud not have jurisdiction
to tell us how much of it we are allowed to drink.

David

Are you really iuncapable of seeing the gaping flaw in your water analogy, David????

Think....

OK, here it is if you didn't get it.

A person drinking too much water is not liable to kill and maim others in doing so.

Try again.

No you were not.
You were responding to the proposition that lawmakers could set a limit on gun ownership using water drinking as an analogy.

America is not the only country that has this problem

An Army sergeant from the Puckapunyal Base in Victoria has pleaded guilty to stealing hundreds of weapons and explosives.

************
A joint operation between Australian Customs investigators and police has uncovered a large number of weapons and ammunition at a Pohlman Street Southport unit address today.

A LARGE cache of weapons and ammunition has been seized by police in a raid on a Gold Coast home today.

Australian Customs investigators and police found 35 legally-held military firearms, three unregistered bolt-action rifles, one military SLR assault rifle, a Skorpion machine pistol, a crossbow pistol and a "substantial amount" of ammunition.

Is this NEWSWORTHY ?

Weapons are valuable.
In common with all property of value,
thay have been stolen since time immemorial,
undoubtedly going back to stolen pre-historic swords and arrows.

SO WHAT ?

I still don't know what the problem is with having a "LARGE cache of weapons"....assuming they're owned legally.

A few weeks ago,
I was delayed in traffic, driving home.
( I really needed sanitary relief. )

Anyway, the leftist NYPD closed the roads
around a college one of whose students
had been pounced upon, disarmed, and arrested,
because he had been carrying an unloaded single shot rifle on campus.
( I had done the same thing, [uneventfully] in another NY college, c.40 years ago. )

For several HOURS, the roads were in turmoil
because of interference from the police whose salaries I pay
and who ALREADY had the prisoner and his unloaded weapon in their custody.

I wish I had the power to cause a recall election
against the police leadership
who inflicted this upon the citizens of NY,
but that is impossible.

YELLOWBELLIED LEFTIST COWARDICE strikes again.

USSC:
HELLER v. D.C.

In the case of US v. VERDUGO (199O) 11O S.Ct. 1O56
(at P. 1O61) the US Supreme Court declares that:

"The Second Amendment protects
'the right of the people to keep
and bear arms'".

THE SUPREME COURT THEN PROCEEDS TO DEFINE "THE PEOPLE" AS BEING THE SAME PEOPLE
WHO CAN VOTE TO ELECT THE US HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES EVERY SECOND YEAR.
(Notably, one need not join the National Guard in order to vote for his congressman.)
The Court further defined "the people" to mean those people who have a right
peaceably to assemble [1st Amendment] and those who have the right
to be free of unreasonable searches and seizures [4th Amendment]
in their persons houses, papers and effects
(personal rights, not rights of states, as the authoritarian-collectivists allege of the 2nd Amendment).
THE COURT HELD THAT THE TERM "THE PEOPLE" MEANS THE SAME THING
EVERYWHERE THAT IT IS FOUND IN THE CONSTITUTION OF 1787, AND
EVERYWHERE THAT IT IS FOUND IN THE BILL OF RIGHTS.

In VERDUGO (supra), the Court indicated that the same people are protected by
the First, SECOND, Fourth, Ninth and Tenth Amendments;
i.e.THE PEOPLE who can speak n worship freely are THE PEOPLE who can keep and bear arms.
