So organised crime is protected under the 2nd amendment in your opinion?

That depends on what organized crime DID, Walter.

Anyway, when government was created in America,
it was subject to the condition
that it had NO JURISDICTION,
to control the possession of guns, by anyone.

If organized crime commits a robbery,
or a murder,
then it is legally liable for robbery or murder,
NOT for possession of guns,
the same as if thay use hammer or a brick to murder someone,
or throw him out the window,
thay are guilty of murder not of having a hammer or a brick or a window.

In my opinion the 2nd ammendment cheerleaders should condemn guys like this
for giving gun owners a bad image.
The fact that they think this is "A-OK" is what makes me think they're lunatics.

The 2nd Amendment simply deprives government
of jurisdiction
to interfere with possession of guns,
any more than it can interfere with possession of Bibles or newspapers.

Therefore, when government does this sort of stuff,
it does so by USURPATION of ultra vires activity.

Exactly! As you just said "He found a bad apple"

So, you are actually saying that the guy is bad but he should be let go because he makes the gun nut idiots look bad? You have gone beyond yourself on this one. Shocked

First off, if the guy broke the law by owning a fully automatic machine gun w/o the proper papers OR he possessed stolen guns OR armor piercing ammo, then the guy deserves what he got.

I'm not excusing the police yet, because I'm curious how they were tipped off and their intentions when they raided his home.

But this does bring up an interesting question. Since there is no law about the number of guns you posses, or the quantity of ammo you can buy, why is it a big deal if this guy had 20,000 rounds. If I owned 20 different guns that each needed different types of ammo (which of course most all do) I could easily rack up that many rounds.

I only own 3 guns, but I have over 3000 rounds of ammo for the simple fact that it is cheaper to buy in bulk. The amount of ammo I own will last me for years at the rate I shoot, but I was able to save over $700 by buying in bulk (it's like chicken or beef the more you buy, the better the deal).

In addition, I also own 2 gas masks, and 2 bullet proof vests, a police scanner and 2 radios, in addition to 4 weeks food/water/gas/generator/etc. These I own as part of a disaster survival kit I keep in my basement. If I had children I would own more gas masks and BP vests. I could see a guy living in NYC, 6 years out from 9/11 wanting to own some police radios and gas masks. How many ground zero workers would not be suffering if they had a few gas masks.

From the newspaper reports, I understand the alleged offender was rung in by people who saw large guns in his car...

Here is one report, which says he was turned in by his girlfriend, when police looked at his car, they found an assault rifle, and searched his home:

Cops seize Army vet's weapons arsenal

NYPD organized crime investigation unit cops tell media about huge cache of weapons and ammunition seized from unstable Army vet Suwei Chuang, 36, on a tip Wednesday.

ABC

Suwei Chuang

Cops seized a stunning array of weapons and 28,000 rounds of ammunition from the Queens apartment of an unstable Army vet after a girlfriend reported him to authorities, police said Thursday.

Suwei Chuang, 36, who had once failed a psychological screening administered by the NYPD, was nabbed Wednesday night in Manhattan after officers investigating the tip found an assault rifle in his SUV, cops and sources said. A subsequent search of his posh new Flushing apartment revealed the cache of guns.

Cops found a submachine gun, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 9-mm. Glock pistol, a .50-caliber rifle and a .22-caliber rifle scattered about his 40th Road flat, police said. The AR-15 assault rifle seized from his Toyota FJ Cruiser was fitted with a scope and fully loaded, officials said. Police also seized 800 rounds of ammo from the vehicle.

Chuang was turned in by a woman who had approached prosecutors about a menacing incident involving him, police sources said. Cops tracked him to lower Manhattan, where he parked about 8:45 p.m. near Gold and Spruce Sts. The assault rifle was in plain sight, cops said.

Chuang is a nephew of Queens activist and respected businessman Timothy Chuang, a family friend said from one of the entrepreneur's Flushing drugstores.

Timothy Chuang did not return calls seeking comment. The nephew is facing a slew of weapons charges.

He had pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit arson about 10 years ago and served some six months in lockup, a source said, adding the court took into account Chuang's psychological difficulties.

He had been examined by an NYPD psychologist before the arson. It was unclear why he was screened, but the psychologist found that Chuang had "poor stress tolerance, poor judgment, poor impulse control and immaturity," the source said. Chuang is a naturalized citizen from Taiwan who served in the U.S. Army, police said.

It wasn't posted when I created this thread. It doesn't matter.

What if this guy simply attended gun and survivalist shows? Made his living that way? Same thing.

I can go to estate auctions and easily walk away with a similar "cache".

How can it not matter cj? The guy was arrested for at least having stolen guns and that's kinda against the law, ya know ;-)

Do u KNOW how much of your cash on hand,
has been stolen ?

NYPD? This is New York City? Surely, they haven't repealed the Sullivan Act.

There are lots of hoops to be jumped through before buying a firearm in the city,
with no assurance of sucess.
I doubt if a single firearm in the inventory is legal in New York City.
There's a few assumptions there, but it just isn't likely.

The Sullivan Law is the legacy of a suicidal maniac
who had been confined to an insane asylum,
dying from the later stages of syphilis.

Additionally,
it is clearly unconstitutional

Well, see, that doesn't sound like a member of a well-regulated militia at all.

Well-regulated militia are PRIVATE militia,
like a volunteer fire dept., or like the Free French in WWII,
or the merchants' militia in L.A. defending from race riots.

A public militia, like that of Article I, Section 8
of the Constitution were called " selected militia. "

I suppose, I wouldn't like to live in a country which has unconstituional over such a long period.

But that's some other topic.

The thread here is about that guy, who is "held after call girl drops a dime" (headline in today's New York Daily News).
He'd stolen the keys of that prostitute's apartment:
Quote:
Chuang's lawyer Stephen Flamhaft acknowledged that Chuang stole his ex-girlfriend's keys to the apartment they shared in November. But Flamhaft said it was "nothing more than a dispute between boyfriend and girlfriend."
