Most people try to find some sort of balance between the freedom of the individual and the needs of society. Cj would probably be better off living in the outback of australia, where he could imitate as many comedians he wanted without anyone caring.

That's a brilliant way to put it.

I'd like to claim some originality for that line, but unfortunately I can't.

To get back on topic, if you have a stripper for a wife, you've got a lot more to offer then the PC police who like to follow me around A2K.

This must be cjhsa's lucky day. He has nothing to contribute to the thread, posts a cheap ethnic joke to get everyone's attention -- and we reward him with exactly the attention he wants, and make him the center of the thread. Do-gooders, we're doing a heckuva job!

I'm amazed anyone is dumb enough to think that Rickles is a comedian.

Yeah, nothing to contribute... right. You all dismissed Slappy the same way. What the hell is wrong with you? Are you mis-wired?

What's worse, he is whining about it.

It's nice that you haven't even been to one yet you claim to know these girls.

How bout you hit some clubs and come back and tell us then what you think?

HUH?

I do know someone who stripped for a job - I knew her very well - and I didnt meet her in a strip club. I also knew a prostitute, and I met her in "regular" life as well.

As I have said about half a dozen times now, and as I have said right from my very first post here, when I first explained what I knew.

Good grief.

About six months after I moved to Michigan, the community I live in outlawed topless dancing and requires pasties. Thank goodness one of my buds had the foresight to drag us all over there for his birthday before they changed the law. Yay! Boobies!

It's natural for the people who are gaining something from objectifying someone over their sexual parts to want to make it all right. It's fair for those who are the ones made to feel like objects to speak also.

Your continuing attempt to act like those who defended strippers are in fact just defending the men who wank over them is getting really really tired.

Because yes, you are referring directly to us: "what's been said is actually proving (to me) my point".

But Noddy posted here that she considered the strippers she knew to be "respectable" people, and she's no strip club visitor who just wants to justify "wanting to use women for wank material."

I posted here to say that I consider the stripper and prostitute I knew decent, intelligent people, and I never went to a strip club, never saw the girl who stripped perform.

As for the others who posted here to defend the strippers they knew against the accusation that they're all f-d up, dumb-ass people - NickFun, Miller, Ogyothingie, Thomas, Joe - you have no idea whether they go to strip clubs or what.

So your continuing line that "what's been said here" on this thread just shows that men who wank over strippers just want to justify themselves by saying strippers are good people is just BS.

There might well be such men - but "what's been said here" has shown nothing of it.

I've never known a prostitute... well, I probably have known one but just didn't know she was a prostitute... anyway... I did have a friend who was a regular client of several prostitutes. He was disabled and said "normal" girls would hardly date him, much less have sex with him and he wanted to have sex.

I'm sure he would have much rather fallen in love with a girl and had her fall in love with him and had a "normal" sex life but it just wasn't working out that way for him.

So he hired prostitutes. So what? Who are we to judge the girls he hired?

The point is that ust because you've met a few smart strippers doesn't make them all smart. And just becaseu I've met mostly skanky, dim witted strippers doesn't make them all dumb.

Finally, something Bella and I can agree on.

It doesnt mean that all are smart, or dumb; or that almost all, or 99%, or whatever, are smart, or dumb.. Because it's unlikely that those five or ten other people all just happened to stumble on that elusive figurative 1%.

Pretty simple really.

Bella Dea wrote:
But it does alter both our perceptions of a stipper and makes neither of us wrong.

Well, that wholly depends on what we said.

It makes those wrong who DO insist that all or almost all or 99% or whatever of strippers are brilliant and kind-hearted people; or dumb, and broken people.

In this thread, noone has said that all or almost all or 99% or whatever of strippers are brilliant and kind-hearted people.

But people have said that almost all of 'em are dumb and f-d up.

Those, then, would be wrong.

So I can't base my opinion on a few people I know but you can base yours on 2 girls you met?

I suppose, it might well be a difference between the US and European situation (and tradition).

(Though e.g. the "new burlesque" is highly regarded by most critics and those girls don't seem to be stupid at all ....)

I think it has a lot to do with cultural differences.

I think different types of girls do the work here versus Europe.
