This is Clary's and my horoscope for the week. (Gee, I love Rob Breszny!)

Sagittarian poet Emily Dickinson had little interest in traditional religion. She referred to the Bible as "an antique volume written by faded men," and called the god worshiped by her conventional parents many unflattering names, including "The Eclipse." And yet, writes critic John Burt, "her poetry is charged with an anguished, naked, mystical confrontation with the divine." This is a perfect astrological time for you to shift towards a more Dickinsonian approach, Sagittarius. I dare you to renounce any dry, timid, safe, lifeless abstractions you might have about the Divine Wow, and instead seek out raw, sweet, wild, direct communion.

(Funny, isn't it Drom? Emily Dickinson just keeps popping up!)

That good and raw...I have just got a book written by a friend of mine from school called Divine Therapy, about love, religion and psychoanalysis (she is a Psych Prof) - obviously a head-on collision with something is in the offing!

Tell me about yours, Piff

The Divine Wow is always something to look for, I think, Clary. I don't know of any collisions I have in the offing, but this is the time of year when my Heidi complex breaks out. I've already been to the mountains once and there can be little that is more raw, sweeter or direct than an intimate relationship with the crags that the native Americans here knew only as "The Mountain." Just to breathe its warm, pine-perfumed air makes me feel 1000 years old. It is an awesome communion. Wink

How different my encounter with the 21st century urban masterpiece that is Hong Kong will be from yours! Both interesting and valuable, aren't we lucky to live in such a rich and varied world?

Emily Dickinson is all over the place, which is somewhat amazing for a recluse. I wonder whether she ever would have envisioned it...

Awesome about the Mountain, Piffka. I love being up there. I would have the Heidi complex, if that didn't entail having freaky kids follow me around singing in mechanical accents Laughing. I have never heard of this divine wow before. Mine mostly comes from being in the midst of the ocean's tremulous vastness.

Here's my horoscope for yesterday, which has been quite accurate:

Today is a day of fantasy and science fiction, Drom. You may not be physically on vacation, but your brain certainly is! No matter how hard you may try to focus on a certain task, your mind continues to wander off into bizarre fantasies. There's no sense fighting it. You may as well let your thoughts lead you where they may. This is your mind's way of recharging itself, preparing for the next big push at work. Allow yourself this small indulgence today.

I've not taken a look at my own horoscope in a while, but I'd have to say that Drom's comes pretty close to my day today.

Interesting horoscope, Drom. I guess small indulgences are better than none. Drom's a Gemini, Fortune. Is that close? Clary & I are both Sags, born on the same day. MsOlga is a Pisces.

Bon voyage then, Clary. Looking forward to hearing more about HK.

Drom - We like the oceans, too, but the big Cascade mountains/sleeping volcanoes are spectacular because they rise significantly higher above their surrounding foothills than is the case with, say, the Rocky Mountains.

Washington has four large mountains in the Cascades that are snow-covered year 'round. Mt. Baker, Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams and Mt. Stuart. (we used to have five before Mt. St. Helens blew up!) We also have the Olympic mountains. Almost everyone in the west side of this state can see a snow-covered peak from their vicinity and on a "reasonably" clear day. We all have our favorites. Mine is the Olympic Range.

Where is Emily Dickinson all over the place? What is happening on September 6th? I'm off again to show "Rage of/in Placid Lake."

BTW -- Heide had only Grandfather, plus Clara the invalid and Peter the goatherd. Those singing kids... that was Maria and the Von Trapps.

September 6, at 3pm EST is when we try to break the A2K attendance record! For me that'll be around 5 in the morning of the next day but hey, I'm game!

My sign is Scorpio by the way.

Thanks Fortune... hmmm September 6th? 3pm EST? That's not going to work for me. I just agreed to go to the Ellensburg Rodeo finals... they start at 11:45am on September 6th. Yeeeeee-hah!

I could leave my computer on, though, as I often do, and then I can "seem" to be online and part of those in attendance.

Lovely. A Scorpio! Seems like someone else on here was a Scorpio, too. I know Roberta is, but I don't think she's ever come on this thread.

This was Scorpio's for the week beginning August 19th from my favorite source:

Are you Scorpios controlling manipulators? You can be, yes. But sometimes that's a good thing. Here's an example. When you have a leadership role in a group project, you may have to be a bit controlling and manipulative in order to keep other people's raging egos from sabotaging the goals of the project. In a case like that, however, you also have a great responsibility to monitor your own power drives. You've got to make sure you don't get so juiced up by the battle of wills that you end up sabotaging the goals of the project yourself. The whole point of being a benevolent manipulator is to serve the greater good, not your own selfish needs. These meditations will be crucial for you to keep in mind in the coming weeks.

PISCES - the week beginning 19th August

One of my specialties is trying to be tolerant of people who are intolerant of me. My motto is "I refuse to dehumanize anyone, even those who dehumanize me." I recommend that you practice this difficult art in the coming week, Pisces. You're in a phase when it's crucial to bolster your integrity, and playing nice with those who don't play nice would be great exercise. But there's another important reason to do this: Feeling even low levels of contempt and disdain would shut down your intuition. And that's something you can't afford as you come to a turning point in your work on the dark side of your life.

`

I must say, I'm getting a little tired of constantly working on this "dark side"! Seems it never goes! (According to all the astrologers, anyway.) And it's always work, work, work or this, that or the other thing. This Pisces wants to have some fun! Razz

Sorry, MsOlga... Pisces are like that! That link I gave a while back will show you your rising and moon signs. Maybe those will offer some relief?

Oh but what a wonderful trait, Olga, not to dehumanise people! The downside of Pisces seems to me to be taking things too seriously, giving yourself unnecessary grief and anguish. I have seen it in many a Piscean.
Anyway, I have updated my interrupted travel digression for those with time on their hands and nothing between the ears!! I mean, compared to Drom's travelogue, mine is very banal. But hey, banality is my middle name (quite a nice name if you say it slowly).
