Why thanks! I must visit Melbourne in the summer sometime, I have only been there in cold and rainy weather. And it is so beautiful now, better than it was 20 years ago.

There's no other sort! Twisted Evil Or...I suppose there's cold, rainy AND windy! [spoken like a true Sydneysider!]. Melbourne is nice, but I'm afraid the weather is mostly awful!

Merry Christmas, all and travel safely!

Margo it rains VIOLENTLY when I visit Sydney too. I walked from Circular Quay to that science museum in the rain last April and it jut kept on getting worse and worse. It took me 3 hours to dry out.
But it wasn't really cold.
Whereas in Brisbane I could go swimming FREE in the city centre on an artificial beach - I do think that is the most AMAZING phenomenon.

Piffka
let's check something. My horoscope from the Astrocenter says:
Your Daily Horoscope for December 23, 2003

Today you might be compelled to remain at home for a while, Clare, perhaps waiting for a phone call or visitor. This could drive you crazy, especially if nothing comes when you think it should. Try to find something to keep you occupied while you're waiting. Read, exercise, spruce up the house, and watch an exciting video. That will help pass the time and keep you from constantly looking at the door or phone!

Does yours say the same or do they alter it according to ascendant, moon etc? Do you know your asc. /moon?

The irony here is that today I have to go out. I would far rather stay here with the cosy glow of the computer and the friendly games of A2K! Try to find something to keep me occupied indeed! And all this time I'm supposed to be writing these grammar books - a series of 3 by March.
Have a good 23rd anyway!

My moon is in Aries, my ascendant is Libra. Very Happy I guess they must change it a little, Clary, because mine for the 23rd says:

Quote:
Go with the flow" is your anthem for today, Piffka. You will find the freedom you seek by simply following the path of least resistance. There is no reason for you not to be happy. Life doesn't need to be difficult or complicated. The thing to remember is that you should be one hundred percent yourself. People will react to you the way they need to. Don't worry about their feelings - they are not your responsibility.

-- this is good news, if accurate, since I'm feeling stressed at the complications of getting my house ready for a big party that starts at 2pm tomorrow and continues on through 'til Christmas. I cannot imagine having the time right now to "watch a video"! I will walk this morning, though, that's probably the only thing I'll do just for myself.

Thank you for your wishes, MsOlga; I hope that you have a great New Year!

As for where you're going, Piffka; why would you want to come to the gloom of England when you could go to somewhere like that! I must get back to Mexico; perhaps in the time before I move up to Newcastle. I was talking to someone last night about buying a summerhouse in the midst of the Armenian forest for the equivalent of $13 per month!

So, I will be off on the 27th on my trip! I'm all excited. Let's hope that everything goes fairly to plan. You'd be better to do what you did the last time; it costs the same to get to Edinburgh? Driving up around the highlands and islands is wonderful.

As for the Greatest Australian City debate; hmm... it's hard. I like all the state capitals... it's some of the grotty little tows that I dislike. What about Adelaide? (No... I would choose Sydney, if truth be told.)

My horoscope:

December 23, 2003
Today you could have some interesting moments of psychic intuition, A. You're always good at picking up on other people's energy. Sometimes you can anticipate what someone is going to say, or sense what emotions they are feeling. Today this ability could be heightened. If you pay attention, your intuition could serve you well. You could pick up on some undercurrents in your workplace. Don't be afraid to play detective and sniff for clues!

Haha... yes. Some party, G! Forty-five or more people will be coming through here during the course of the day. Awwwk, I've got to go and wrap a bunch of presents so I can clear off the dining table. Luckily most of the food is made but I still have a lot of cookies to do.

Drom -- I think you are very intuitive. Look at how quickly you've become a strong member of a2k! I hope your day goes very smoothly. $13 a month for a summer house? That sounds so tempting.

That mountain in Mexico in the photograph -- that's called Tetakawi. Know what that means? LOL, the people there don't take much seriously.

My son told me a quotation yesterday that made me think of you (all of you, really) Hmmm, I'll have to ask him again how it goes, I want to get it right. It was about people who know more than one language.

Wow; that's a lot of people to look after Piffka; do you do this every year?

Thanks Piffka! I am really glad to have found A2K and the people here, although I cannot help but think that I would have liked to have found here sooner. Although people have complained of a 'Liberal bias,' I think that we have a great range of people here. There is no trace of animosity; on the board from where I left to come here, people lambasted me greatly for criticizing the objectification of women, in particular one woman. The woman being objectified said that she liked the attention and railed on at me as loudly as the person who said that he liked his 'adorable little self-deprecating piece of ass,' or something to that effect. Anyhow, I love talking to everyone here.

About Armenia!

As you can see, Armenia is perfect for a student budget, but filled with culture. The one thing that turns people off is the Bostonian temperatures. We were thinking of pooling our money together- about eight of us- and buying various little houses all around the world; rent them out, live in them over the holidays, use them for stops on the big road trips that we plan (we once planned to go all the way from Amsterdam to Shanghai, and tried to sell the idea to Channel 4; unfortunately, the SARS epidemic ensued.) We were also thinking of buying our own island, but due to our budget, we could not afford a pacific paradise, only a little isle off the coast of Newfoundland!

Well, I sure know what Teta means, anyway! Very Happy. I remember a Spanish proverb that translates as 'to speak another language is to have another soul;' though that's not it, I think that it's true. It is a shame how so many people neglect learning modern languages, and annoying to see so many people with ideas of 'English supremacy.'

Yep... almost every year since about 1986. Some of the people have changed, but many are regulars.

Drom, I snagged my son and asked him to repeat his quotation. It is a saying from Czechoslovakia and he says it goes:

"For how many languages you know, you are that many times a person."

See why I wanted to remember to tell it to you?

(Still wrapping... still wrapping....)

A caterer? LOL -- on Christmas Eve??

This is the menu -- it's pretty easy, really. People come and go, things are served at different times, not everybody eats everything.

Tamales (Chicken and Vegetarian) -- these are steamed during the party
Chili Rellan~os -- Mr.P makes tonight & bakes during party
Chili Con Carne & Corn Bread -- done
Deep Fried Turkey (this is new for 2003) -- Mr.P & Co. will do during the party
Fruit Salad -- to be done tonight
Shrimp in Lime Sauce -- fast
Vegetables & Chips & Breads & Dips
Cookies & Candy -- storebought & homemade
Gingerbread House --
Nuts & Dried Fruit
Beer-Wine-Drinks-Pop-Coffee-Tea

Wow; that's a wonderful quotation, Piffka; I agree with it wholeheartedly. Hmm; if anyone were to offer me any supernatural gift, I would probably choose to be able to speak every language, living or dead, in the world. Either that or Mind control!

Hope that everything goes well in what could be best called a fiestón. I'm all booked and ready for my long odyssey through Europe now! Very Happy

Happy Christmas Everyone!

Hi Margo... I wish I were a cat and could sleep away the day and night.

I hope everybody had an enjoyable Christmas break. It was a whirlwind here and though my house is (pretty much) back together, I'm still feeling tired.

Drom -- I suppose you're getting ready for your trip tomorrow? You lucky thing!

My horoscope is too silly today; I'm not going to post it. Very Happy

My horoscope isn't great either, Piffkins. I am delighted to find that here I am on holiday, in an alien household and yet a2k is just as available as at home. Only troi\uble is, the screen is so far from the keyboard that I am straining my eyes!!

Now, 1001 ways of using up turkey....
