I've got one for ya. I just congratulated and wished well a co-worker who is leaving for another job. Well color me red when he replied he wasn't leaving ... apparently his boss spread the rumor because he WANTS him to leave. Ho Hum!

Gee Heeven, I hope it wasn't a coworker that you like!

I spoke too soon about my nightmare project. They whittled it down to only 420 records. I just spend an hour doing 19 of them. I'm considering whether I'll quit before I'll do the rest. That's unbelievably tedious work, and very hard on the eyes. There has to be another way.

Yes, I've suggested the interns! But they are not mine to direct, the boss has to agree to that. And unfortunately, I'm pretty junior here - this has been delegated to me...

HooHaa Heeven! Nice going... I know I would feel dumb as crap if I did that stunt... But it makes me wonder about the job-climate at your office, I mean, if a boss spreads a rumour like that!

BTW! I managed to have a lot of alcoholic beverages in glass containers without hurting anyone! OKOKOK, my head wasn't that comfortable, but I recon that's my own fault! Drunk

Uhoh, Rae, we are we going to stay the next time we're in Cocoa Beach? You be sure to cash your check first, just like roger said!

I wonder if that would work with one of my problem people..... Twisted Evil
Keep me posted, wouldja'?

macsm--Interns? Why ARE you doing it instead of them? Fetching coffee can't possibly be taking up all of their time.

That particular boss is a nasty piece of work and this is just one in a long line of issues with him. I told said employee to either stand up and fight or go while he still has the flesh on his back. Can't put up with that kind of crap myself. I would confront him myself and rip him a new ...

Anyhoo, such is office politics. It's not for the faint of heart! And this guy is not the worst I've ever experienced either!

Miraculously, we've managed to meet another payroll. I'm in complete shock.

My frustration earlier was due to the fact that I was asked if we had the funds for a ridiculous vendor, who shall remain nameless until I quit. An important vendor is all I'll say.

Payroll has been met.....we don't have a pot to piss in for any other bills that show up.

Someone near and dear told me today to get the hell out.....I'm looking. Jobs are hard to come by without resorting back to the service industry, but I'm a'tryin!

Rae, hang in there !!!

Workwise, I am not having a happy time as well !! Due to disagreements between bonus/stockoptions/pay hikes this year, I had expressed a desire to move out of the department as soon as I get a better offer (which I am working towards). Due to departmental politics etc, I am now being sidelined completely, even while I am here so I seem to have a lot of time on my hands (and that is why u see so much of me on A2K). The troube is when u r used to working 80 hr weeks - this kind of lull can be really frustruating !!

Hey, G, mine's only 40 hours, lousy pay -- but lots of free time and nobody's watching what you're doing on the 'puter.

(Seriously, man, 80 hours a week is no way to live. Killing yourself over a job when all your animal needs are already more than met -- why, that's puritanically American of you...)

Rae, Terrydoo, and a host of others hate their jobs. I hate mine, and it's a cakewalk. (The new boss is sorely in need of a carefully calibrated and regular dose of lithium, but hasn't taken me on yet in her quest to decide who gets laid off when the new budget comes out.)

See, problem is, we're evolved for a nomadic life on the plains. It was bad enough when we wandered into the friggin' ice age without so much as a fur on our feet, but then we build these static urban societies, and put ourselves in repetitive and meaningless jobs, and do things like jump off of bridges with rubber bands tied around our ankles just to get some inkling of the life the millions of years of evolution prepared us for. Sure, we've got these religions that tell us that it's all illusion or that we're just preparing ourselves for some great party in the sky, and we're supposed to be placated by that -- but in the meantime, our legs want to climb and our hands want to grasp and our teeth want to tear and until our wild survival instincts are completely reduced, until the reptile brain relinquishes its grip on our emotional lives, most of us are never going to be happy plugging away in from of some damn plastic and glass box so that somebody else can take home a fat check, have lots of kids, eat expensive food, and wipe with three-ply paper...

Hmmm. I had more of a summation in mind, and got off track somehow...
