Ok, I work at a NOC (network operation center) inside a corporate setting. Just been there for about 4 months. There are about 50 employees so life there is pretty close knit. How does one go about making friends or networking with co-workers from other departments, boss, the various management that are around there, e.t.c

What do you mean how is it making friends? Friend making isn't corporate speak. It is liking someone else who talks enough to engage in conversation.
So, you want to make friends to advance?

please dont be silly. making friends at work is not the same as making friends at the coffee shop or at a club. at work you have to adhere to certain guidelines while at those "after-5" locations you can say any and everything as long as they are not curse words or offensive.
yeah, I'm looking for opinions on how to engage say, folks from our marketing dept in conversation. we all happen to have the same break room so our lives intersect during the work day.
