@oralloy,
I don't think JG has ever mentioned his position regarding gun rights.

In another thread about the 2020 election, he cared more about the families of former slaves getting reparations (supported by Biden) and prohibiting abortion nationwide (supported by Trump), as well limiting LGBT rights.

JG had previously planned on supporting Sen. Cory Booker before he dropped out.

You must be tickled pink by the Supreme Court decision which came in today!

I would prefer it if the courts upheld the Second Amendment.

However, the NRA is able to uphold the Second Amendment when the courts do not bother to do so.

@oralloy,
The NRA is currently struggling to stay afloat financially.

@Sturgis,
I doubt that. But their finances are not very important regardless.

Who says Democrats would stop at gun rights? If they got away with violating the gun rights of people who don't cash their own Social Security checks, who knows what they'd try next.

@oralloy,
Unless I'm misreading the stances of the Justices of the Supreme Court, there are more conservative leaning judges and less liberal judges on the bench right now, with the high likelihood that Ruth Bader Ginsburg dying or retiring in the next few years.

So gun rights are ok for the time being. And due to the Democrat controlled House and Republican controlled Senate, it would be very difficult to repeal the 2nd Amendment.

@Rebelofnj,
The courts are not enforcing our gun rights. Our gun rights are secure because the NRA enforces them.

@oralloy,
I want to register as an Independent the next time I go voting. Then I can support and vote for whoever I want.

I just got another U.S. Treasury check in the mail. It's mine - it has my name and not both my mother's and my name on it. It doesn't say "Pay to the order of (my mother's name) for (my name)" on it.

It doesn't say it's a stimulus check but is it a stimulus check? On the bottom left-hand corner it says "SOC SEC FOR INS" on it. What does that mean?

I don't want to disclose how much the check is for but it's for a lot more than $1200.

@JGoldman10,
Your party registration shouldn't prevent you from voting for who you want to.

Unless it's a primary. In some states you can only vote in a primary if you are a member of the party that is holding the primary.

I don't know the answers to your questions about the check. Hopefully someone else can help.

@JGoldman10,
This is why you need to get a bank account. You don’t want to be walking about with large amounts of cash on you.

@izzythepush,
Yes, but I had old banking accounts that were reported to Chex Systems for delinquent payments. I incurred too many overdraft fees. I can't create a new banking account until I pay off the money owed to these old banking accounts.

@izzythepush,
I called a local bank and I was told that other check that has my mother's name and my name on it is hers.

This is the stimulus check I'm referring to.

A cheap and widely available drug called dexamethasone can help save the lives of patients who are seriously ill with coronavirus.

UK experts say the low-dose steroid treatment is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus.

It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.

The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus.

Researchers estimate that if the drug had been used to treat patients in the UK from the start of the coronavirus pandemic up to 5,000 lives could have been saved. Because it is cheap, it could also be of huge benefit in poorer countries struggling with high numbers of Covid-19 patients.

@izzythepush,
Hello Izzy. I know you've had experience working in banking. Are you familiar with Chex Systems or is this solely an American thing?

I think a case worker would be very helpful, you should talk to the caseworker and explain the situation with the checks you can't cash...What I think is that since your Mother has a caseworker, that person can negotiate on your behalf...and if that's not kosher the caseworker might be able to hook you up with a case worker who can help you navigate the system. I'm not an expert on these things, but most States have programs in place to help people during difficulties.

You mentioned your mother is your payee, your mother might have a caseworker who can unscramble the situation and help you.

There are no plans to abolish the 2nd amendment. Even people who would like to see certain types of weapons controlled or limited, don't want the 2nd amendment abolished.
