@edgarblythe,
Trump is not a rational or humane person. He lacks simple empathy for other people. As a narcissist, every topic has to be about him.

NY Times columnist explains why Trump is treating his own supporters like complete and total fools

President Donald Trump thinks that his supporters are too dumb to think for themselves, New York Times reporter Michelle Goldberg said on MSNBC Sunday.

As the president took the stage at a Macon, Georgia rally, he proclaimed that if Democratic candidate Stacey Abrams is elected as the governor, she will unmake the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution. A governor doesn’t become elected the king of the United States, Congress still would be required to pass laws and have it ratified by the states to unmake an Amendment. But the president seems to think his own people don’t even know how government works.

@edgarblythe,
That's been true about Trump forever. His ignorance about the US history and Constitution only proves his lack of knowledge about the country he is the president of. His ignorance about free trade and taxes are also evident by his rhetoric about tariffs. When he added 10% and 25% tariffs on steel and aluminum, he started a trade war. That only means we all pay more for the products we buy with steel and aluminum, and that includes can goods and cars. It also means less sales. Less sales means loss of jobs. You don't keep people in jobs that are lacking sales. To provide some perspective, less sales means less sales people, less workers in transportation, less workers in warehouses, less workers of sellers and buyers, and less sales taxes that our government depends on to provide the necessary government services. It decreases salaries and wages which translates into less buying. Less buying means less income for all the businesses they did business with when they had income. That's how recessions and depressions starts. So, go and vote BLUE if you value your jobs and your country. History has proven that democrats are better for our economic health. The GOP is good at cutting taxes for the rich, and increasing our national debt. Trump has increased our national debt by $1 trillion dollars during his first 14 months in office. If you want another recession or depression, continue to vote for Trump. https://www.forbes.com/sites/stancollender/2018/05/20/trump-may-be-the-most-fiscally-reckless-president-in-american-history/#1204567d564a

No. He was deriding third-world hellholes because they are third-world hellholes. Race has nothing to do with it.

So far all of the ignorance has been on the part of Trump's accusers.

Trump is protecting the US auto industry. That's a good thing.

Nonsense. Huge social spending programs are just as responsible for the debt as tax cuts are.

Not that I oppose big social programs, but the idea that tax cuts alone are the cause of the debt is nonsense.

Trump's protections for the auto industry show that he is good for the economy.

@cicerone imposter,
News reports today indicate that China is going to start to play nice with trade. If that is the case, what tariffs are left? EU and Mexico/Canada have new trade deals with the US and China is next on the list. If we get a new trade deal with them, then Trump has indeed reworked trade deals that you and your ilk have proclaimed were not possible.

The inability to debate without referring to the opponent personally is pathetic.

First of all, president Trump never said that nations with black populations are all sh*hole countries. Mexico has a black population? It's interesting that his alleged racist comments never mention race.

Tell me what is wrong with someone saying that he would prefer that so many immigrants not come from broken, impoverished countries with corrupt governments and poor educational systems? It's really nice to help people who had no chance where they came from, but it would be good if the majority of the people who immigrate here have professional skills and come legally.

No. I had asked you to tell me how Trump's comment was racist and you hadn't answered. To say that someone seems incapable of answering one particular question isn't really much of an ad hominem. I made no statement whatsoever about what sort of person you are. It's standard debating. You, on the other hand, have said:

"How mindless of you."
"...he must have had people like you in mind."

These are actual ad hominems.

You claim that because Trump referenced "sh*hole countries," that makes him a racist, but you cannot make that conclusion based on that comment. Calling countries with multi-century long grinding poverty and corrupt government "sh*hole countries" is a pretty apt description.

You cannot actually find things the president has done which are racist, so you take comments subject to a wide variety of interpretations, with no mention whatever of race, and mind read the meaning he had behind them.

It was a matter of which countries he referred to--African countries, and Haiti--and at the same time whining because we don't get lots of immigrants from Norway, a country which is 91.5% white (according to the CIA world factbook).

Back in the day they used to say that you don't need a weather man to know which way the wind blows. I have not said that he has "done" anything racist. I am bemused by that, though, how does one do something racist? I suspect that if he went into the street and assaulted black people, you'd say that I couldn't prove he had done it because they are black. What "wide variety" of interpretations do you allege apply here? Africa was colonized and heavily exploited long after the European nations had colonized the Americas and Asia south of Russia and China. They have only had their independence since the early 1960s. They were heavily plundered by the colonizing nations. Just what kind of condition would you expect them to be in?

Really, your defense of this piece of **** who disgraces our nation is just sickening.
