Probably, through money, through emotion etc

For your information, financial blackmail/emotional abuse is just as devastating as physical abuse.

OKay! I guess it is better to stop here guys, otherwise it is going too far. My background and family were insulted by some unknown piece of ****. Someone even made a joke based on race, only assuming that I was from mid-east- fact is not. Even if I was from mid-east. Your cheap joke would be pretty damaging to my emotions.

The only people being insulted in this thread are the women you insist should maintain subservient roles in a household.

You will have to explain to my why you feel as if your emotions have been damaged because someone implied you are from the mid-east. Are you saying your views on the subject at hand are inconsistent with those held by many in the mid-east? I assure you that the comment was directed toward your views on this subject, not your racial/ethnic makeup. You may or may not be from the mid-east -- it's immaterial. But your views are 3rd world.

I recommend you to read the whole thread and then u might wanna restate your reply, which stated that woman being insulted by.
Also, after fully understading the discussion we had, u consider altering the following statement:

"You will have to explain to my why you feel as if your emotions have been damaged because someone implied you are from the mid-east."

I've read the whole thread, and see no reason to restate my reply.

Try not to assume what I've understood.

In a nutshell, you believe that a women's role in a relationship is to, at a minimum, cook for her husband. (This you arrived at only after a lot of negotiation with Brooke and Montana.) But it remains your belief that women have boundaries that they should not cross because God has ordained these limits upon women: cook, clean, look after their husband and children. You don't believe in gender equality. That is the view which I feel is insulting to women.

Understand?

Based on your attitudes towards women, it is a simple conclusion that you are playing pickup in the Kabul 7/11.

Oh, not necessarily, Tico! My 45-yr.-old brother has the same views, and he's 100% American.

Of course, he's always been 100% single, too.

I've also met other men who think this way as well, but the numbers are thinning out quite nicely. I think that maybe lots and lots of materbation makes men with these views think much clearer.

Yes, Montana, their numbers are thinning out. And that's for the best. We don't really want men with these outdated, sexist views to reproduce anyway.

Yup, we don't need none of that sexist reproduction goin on. That would delay progress and we can't have that ;-)

Checking in after I've arrived home after work...
I think it's neat so many of us of sometimes diverging views tend to line up on this situation. (Get in line, Kicky, get in line!)

Ron, I hope your views of marriage change with life experience, because of new understandings of the wonderful potential of all humans once people are not rule bound into gender roles, for your own happiness as well as that of your mate.

In the meantime, I'm relieved for Shy Girl that she said no.

Wow! I just read this whole thread. Toward the end my thoughts went back to 'shy girl' just as Osso mentioned her. All I could think of was what that poor girl would have faced if she'd said yes. I hope she knows how to cook and I hope, if nothing else, ron forgets about asking her out.

Nice job Brooke, Montana, Debra, et al.... this thread had me laughing out loud, shaking my head in wonder and dismay and wondering just where ron picked up these ideas?!?!?!

Thank yee JB. I did my best to talk some sense into poor clueless Ron here and just when I thought I was getting somewhere, he fell off the wagon. I guess he's just going to have to learn the hard way.
