Can the Soul die?

Mon 30 May, 2016 07:55 pm
Many religions teach that the soul is immortal and that it never dies.
What is your take? Can the soul really die?

@BroRando,
Quote:
the soul that sins shall die

Ezekiel seemed to think so, (Ezekiel 18:20)

@Smileyrius,
Thank you for your answer. “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”—Ezekiel 18:4, King James Version.

"death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.” (Rev 20:13 KJV)

Take Care,

The soul either regenerates into a new creature or else it fragments into many parts, often known as new souls giving essence to new creatures.

As to biblical reference, it (the Bible) was created and written by people (mostly male) and has been revised and rewritten dozens upon dozens of times over the centuries. Some interesting stories; but, how much is true? How much is supposition? How much is fiction?

@BroRando,
My question was about 'what happens AFTER the judgement?' Obviously a judgement involves at least 2 different outcomes.

@Leadfoot,
Yes. Thank you. The Day of Judgement lasts a thousand years. "Now as soon as the 1,000 years have ended, Satan will be released from his prison, and he will go out to mislead those nations in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Maʹgog, to gather them together for the war. The number of these is as the sand of the sea" (Rev 20:7-8)

"After that the end will come, when he will turn the Kingdom over to God the Father, having destroyed every ruler and authority and power." (1 Corinthians 15:24)

So you're saying that some souls WILL die, right?

No. The soul is everything about you except your body

Thank you for your comments. Relgion teaches that when you die you go to heaven or to an eternal burning hell. Notice the teaching of Jesus Christ is very much different. He taught a Ressurection.

"Jesus said to her: “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who exercises faith in me, even though he dies, will come to life; " (John 11:25) To claim people are not ressurected from death and hell is to deny the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

"death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." (Rev 20:13 kjv) They are Judged by their WORKS.

@Leadfoot,
"And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7 ASV) Adam was given a soul rather he became a living soul.

Death was the punishment. "In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.” (Genesis 3:19)

Take Care.

@BroRando,
Correction on that, Adam became a living soul, not given one. "And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7 ASV)

The Bible is all over the place concerning the soul, spirit, rephaim, nephesh, hell, sheol, tartarus, etc. The inconsistencies are even more apparent between the two testaments. It really allows for various interpretations and dogmas.
