mac- We will still get the winds and the rain. The good news is that the Tampa area will not be subject to the storm surges, which are supposed to be formidable!

The bad area will be around Fort Myers. I don't know if any A2kers live there.

Daytona Beach City Manager James Chisholm has ordered the closure of all non- essential City offices and facilities effective 3:00 pm today, Friday, August 13, 2004.

The City of Daytona Beach Emergency Operations Center will be activated at 6:00pm today to handle emergency issued presented by storm activity.

Volusia County Manager Cindy Coto has issued a mandatory evacuation for all manufactured/mobile homes effective at 4 p.m. today.

All Volusia County shelters will be open as of 4 p.m. in Volusia County. Shelter locations are at http://volusia.org/storm/shelter.htm. Shelters are:

Looks like the folks in Tampa Bay really made out well. The storm veered to the east. All I am getting is a little wind, and some rain.
