@Green Witch,
No it isn't. It's just good for balance. I never get a as much cardio exercise from riding horses than running.

@Atom Blitzer,
Because in order to do that, I need to get information from people. And people like you, keep on commenting. Hey at least I'm not sitting on a couch eating junk food right now.

@Atom Blitzer,
Running is not good for everyone, it damages the knees over time, and most people do not stick with it. Riding is great exercise and the poster enjoys it. Just pushing a horse around is a good work out.

@Atom Blitzer,
Um you use A LOT of muscle in riding. Especially core muscles. Look it up, i'm not going to argue with someone so senseless about riding like you.
And obviously its not more than running. I was never comparing. Tha'ts like comparing weight lifting to tieing a string.

@Green Witch,
HA ATOM!! Exactly! Espeicially hardcore riding, like posting trot, cantering, and jumping! Takes so much skill and effort and most of all, MUSCLE!

@Equestrianforlife7xo,
So do you think you could find work, paid or volunteer, with horses?

@Equestrianforlife7xo,
Ya for the horse.
I've done a lot horse riding. My sister got me started. it's easier than most people imagine you know after getting over the fear of getting on horses. I've also raced my sister many times - bareback riding. I win most of the time. I don't do it often nowadays after the scene where I broke my collar bone doing that.

And with running I meant doing cardio sports like soccer or a sport that incorporates balance and cardio like fencing or hockey.

@Atom Blitzer,
She's a 15 year old girl. I'm sure her balance and heart are fine. We are looking for ways for her to lose weight with habits she will keep for life. If you read her posts you will realize she is not comfortable doing group things in public.

@Green Witch,
No such things as habits that lasts for life. Any habit can be broken. What matters is the action you do now.

Horse riding will probably will build her core muscle, but it won't remove the flabby fat junk surrounding it. Burning that require more painful and tiring workouts than horse riding.
