Where was God during the holocaust?

Theodicy, the attempt to explain how evil and misery can exist in a world controlled by an omnicient, omnipotent and all loving god, is a waste of time because it incorrectly assumes the existence of the Christian god. God's only excuse is that he does not exist.

What it means is you don't seem to have a coherent thought on the matter.

I was suspending judgement on your comment(s) pending clarification. Do you have any idea what my thoughts on the matter are? If so, what do you find incoherent about them?

It seems that neo isn't familiar with the expression "taking the piss," and furthermore was offended by the use of the word "piss."

See his thread about bad words.

The expression can be paraphrased as, "are you joking?"

Neo's answer, in its roundabout way, is "no".

@FBM,
Not offended by bad words unless part of personal invective.
Sorry to be unfamiliar with current idiomatic expressions.
I'm an old geezer; what can I say?

@neologist,
I thought you would already be familiar with them, since you described them as incoherent.

@neologist,
Gotcha. Even though I'm American, the internet has broadened my colloquial vocabulary. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taking_the_piss

I couldn't use that expression back home.

@neologist,
Just some of many contradictions in the bible. Who wouldn't be confused?

People who believe they can read the bible and make sense out of all the conflicting messages is either a psycho or has difficulties in logic.

I readily direct sarcasm towards the clergy who have misled mankind for centuries. In that respect, I am much like Diderot, who exclaimed. "Man will never be free until the last king is strangled with the entrails of the last priest."

Anyone claiming to understand the Bible who does not realize Satan's role in world affairs has some hidden agenda, I believe.

Intellectuals such as yourself have a hard time understanding the Bible; it was not written to be interpreted only by clergy; it is not esoteric; it was written so the least sophisticated of us could understand it. I try to look at it from the point of view of my good friend Joe Sixpack, the quintessential common man.

After all, what part of "Thou shalt not murder" is so hard to understand? Apparently the entire statement to those who perpetrated the holocaust.

BTW, you saved one of those drinks for me, I hope.

Based on your quote, I'd speculate : You never attended Law School and/or you've never studied Talmud.

Right on both counts.
I have little use for Hebraic oral law. It was eschewed by Jesus as I recall.
However, I do think I understand the difference between deliberate murder and other forms of killing.
