@Arella Mae,
Jesis... Who is that giant trying to ride that pigmy pony... What a sadistic criminal... I guess if the horse runs off he can just put his feet down and step off and let the horsey go on...

@Fido,
LOL! That is my trainer. Don't you worry, Dave would never ride a horse he is too big for. Joy is 14.5 hands and she is quite a stout paso fino.Oh, and it's not a pygmy horse. Not even a pony. He's gonna crack up when I tell him this.

@Arella Mae,
Arella,
Is there any difference between JJ and the horses
as to their respective tails ?

@OmSigDAVID,
JJ probably isn't going to have the long tail that his mom and Lulu have. That's just a guess though. His tail is pretty long and who knows, it may drag the ground too but donkeys, like his daddy, don't have long tails.

The Paso Finos my kid's father in law exports all have very pronounced necks, like a huge muscle that runs along the mane that in old horses lays over to one side or another... Seem familiar???... Supposed to be a good cow horse.. Very nimble... Here is what I remember from Puerto Rico... Horses and lots of horses, mangy dogs smart enough to wait for the traffic lights to change and chickens smart enough to not cross the road...

@Fido,
I'm not sure what you are trying to say but I trust Dave. He wouldn't do anything that would hurt any animal. Pasos are well known for that neck. My darling mule, Joy's son, has the Paso neck too!

I 've also found it difficult or impossible to figure out what Fido says.

@Arella Mae,
Those are some gorgeous pictures of your herd. I hope you took some time to yourself over the holidays - to just spend some time loving up those lovely creatures.

Thank you for sharing the pictures. Little Miss Joy gets more beautiful with each photo.

@ehBeth,
Thank you ehBeth. We had a wonderful holiday and I hope you and yours did also. I am hoping for some video of Dave riding her this week.

Here are a couple of pictures from today's session. The lady in the picture with Joy is Anna, Dave's girlfriend, from England. I can't believe that's my Joy!

Notice Dave has no rope on her! Nothing to keep her from running off. Dave said she didn't even flinch.

You can bet this weekend I am going to be hugging Joy too!

My baby!!!!!!!!!!! She was ridden for the first time today. Dave said she was a bit tense but there was no buck in her. I'm so excited!

What is the paso doing for a neck??? Does he have his head on his shoulders like a weight lifter or what????

@Fido,
I am really sorry but I have no idea what you are asking me. And, as you can see, Little Miss Joy is doing quite well with Dave on her.

Its not easy to figure out what Fido writes,
but I think that he has noticed that Joy
has a robustly solid, secure-looking neck.

@OmSigDAVID,
Um, okay. If that's what he said then he's right. She has a very large and muscular neck. JJ has it too. Ty for the congratulations. I am so excited. Dave said Joy is the sweetest little horse. I said "My Joy?" Sweet is not a word that aptly described the horse I took to Dave. I guess it was all fear on her part. She's losing that fear and the real her is coming out and I couldn't be more pleased abut it.

@OmSigDAVID,
I really need to get some new shots though. Anna is here so I'm going to have her come over and take some pictures for me. She has a "real" 35mm camera that does so much better than my little one. That side shot of JJ was when he was about four or five months old, I think. He is now 9 months old. Will be a year old March 12, 2011.

@Arella Mae,
Fabulous photos of Joy in training.

She has such an expressive face. Love that.

As always, thank you for sharing this part of your life.
