I hope & trust that Mac will be in perfect shape very soon, Arella. Give him something nice to eat!

Does he like Swiss Chocolate & caramel ?

@Roberta,
He is still limping but quite a lot less than the other night. I am giving him the butte paste for the pain. This cold weather isn't helping matters. But, he doesn't seem to be in pain like he was and his leg isn't shaking like it was. Thank you for asking after him.

@Arella Mae,
Did he reccomend wrapping the two legs where the limp is?. My neighbor keeps his Belgians wrapped in the winter and removers them about 1 a week . He is in tyraining for the farm shows dray teams. He has his pull full dress carriages.

@farmerman,
No, he gave him a shot of something and I am giving him the butte paste. He did some front and back flexing of Mac's leg when he was here. He said it probably only really hurts if he turns a certain way on it and he figured that is what I saw that upset me so much. He didn't say a thing about wrapping his leg. He is a lot better than he was the other night but seeing a horse limping at all is pretty scary.

@farmerman,
Arella, I used to cure my last horse, Angel, by putting a compress using (?) I cannot remember that blue lotion rather heavy on her leg from ankle to 'knee.' Then I'd wrap that (tight, but not too) with cling wrap, then a heavy cotton wrap over the cling wrap. That stuff really heats up in there. One of my trainers taught me how to do that. Works to heal everything! Unless her injury is farther up into hip.

I was having some trouble with cute little Angel. It took a long time but I found out this couple was purposely injuring her, or riding her, gosh I just don't know. I just took care of her, didn't have the time to even wonder why these odd injuries were occuring. All I can think is they wanted her for their little daughter. We finally put her in another barn without saying anything. Unless I truly knew, and had evidence it was them, that's a terrible thing to suggest, or ask why about. One of the worse experiences I've had in my life.

Sometimes boarding stables don't have the best of people working with the horses.

Since the cold appears to be a problem,
maybe wrapping woud be helpful ?
like putting on a sweater ?

How is JJ taking this ?

@Pemerson,
The thought of anyone purposely hurting an animal makes me furious. Thank God Angel had you.

It has warmed up today. Actually, it's quite nice out. Mac is not acting like that leg hurts him at all. He is still chasing everyone away from his grain. There doesn't seem to be any swelling in the leg so it does seem to be getting better. If he is still limping tomorrow I am supposed to call the vet and he said we'd do something else.

JJ is taking full advantage of Mac's being a bit slowed down. Only JJ would do that!

Does MAC require legal counsel to get a restraining order qua JJ ??

CONGRATULATIONS to Mac, for his being better now!!!

Maybe he just missed Joy
and those were the manifestations of his angst.

@OmSigDAVID,
Mac's problem is now that Joy is not here he can actually be the big horse at the trough so to speak. Joy is really the only horse here that would not take any guff off of Mac. She is one tough little momma horse. He loves JJ though. He is with JJ all day but when it comes time to eat he gets pretty stingy.

I am going to have to go over to Dave's and see Little Miss Joy this weekend. Dave said her milk has finally dried up and she has lost even more weight. He is trying to get her used to Dave towering over her. He has a stepladder he puts beside her. He climbs up and down that so she gets used to him. He said she is doing really well. She still is a bit nervous but she has come a long way. I'll see if I can get a good picture of her. Oh, Dave said that Buck is the herd leader over there. He keeps Buck, Little Miss Joy and another mare in a pasture. Some herd! Little Miss Joy and one other female with Buck to lord over them. It's the first time Buck has had his own herd, LOL!

@OmSigDAVID,
JJ and Lil Man are the ones needing a lawyer to file a restraining order against Mac. Mac's got the big head around here. Got news for him. He's off to Dave's as soon as that leg heals all the way up for a bit of an attitude adjustment.

@OmSigDAVID,
JJ is already much bigger. I have to get some shots of him. It's supposed to be pretty nice this weekend so I'll see if I can get some shots where you can see how tall he is. He doesn't look lik a baby anymore that's for sure. I don't know if JJ even knows his momma is gone. I guess that's a good thing in animals but it seems a bit sad to me. We are all one big happy family and when any one of us are missing I always feel the absence. I miss going out in the morning and hearing Joy whinny at me in her "where the heck have you been? I'm hungry!" manner and I miss hearing it when I pull into the driveway at night.

for the camera ?

@OmSigDAVID,
LOL! Getting JJ to do anything for a camera is easy. He is such a ham. You get out a camera and he's walking right up to you and looking in it. He is too funny sometimes. I'm sure Joy will remember JJ. She and Lulu were separated for about six months while Lulu was over in the other pasture with Hank and Indy. After a few short weeks, Lulu was right back at her momma's side like before.
