hmmm. dating "burn out" as you describe it the simple answer seems to me to just slow down... usually you only burn out from dating when you do it too fast Sad

Finnish girls, plain? Stocky? When I was in Finland, in 1976, I thought they were all rather attractive. Casually dressed in jeans and shirts with the then popular Dorothy Hamill wedge hair cut, they were so clean and well groomed that Finland seemed a nation of lookers. Not movie star quality, but attractive.

Finland has to be the cleanest place in the world. You can eat off the streets in what appeared to be a warehouse district.

bedwyn - at one point, I was trying to date too many people at once. I was just meeting people from online to see if there was a spark. It was confusing, indeed. But, that was years ago at this point.

I was thinking about swimming - rowing seems a better alternative. Gotta boat?

ok, back to me <hahaha, sorry, but I'm a little anxious>.

It's getting past ok-to-call-hours and stillno phone call. I agree with Heeven that he should know that I am expecting a call. I feel like I should call him tomorrow at work (through the receptionists: "hi Lainy/Beth, just wanted to wish A. farewell"). But, what to say to HIM? Just a plain and simple "call me"? Or, ask him out? Or what?

I'll try to recap from way back.

5.5 years ago I met this guy at my sister's workplace who made my blood boil in my ears. I was so overwhelmingly attracted to the guy I had to leave his general area. This lasted for a year or two (I didn't see him often as he travelled for work), then I got over that craziness (dunno if I've ever experienced that with anyone else).

1.5 years ago he settled into a desk job at the same company.

1 year ago he asked my sister if I was single (I go in for lunches now and again), she said "I'm not sure" (thanks sis) and never got back to him about my status. All through last summer and fall we had occassional lunches in a group setting at lunch, but neither of us said anything like "Hey, let's get a beer", so we never did. Eventually he stopped coming to my sister's area for lunch.

.5 years ago I heard he had a marvelous blind date set up in Mexico City (he was there on biz, she was going to meet him there). When he got back, he said things went great. I stopped thinking about IT.

1 week ago he asked my sister if I was single (again). Last friday she gave him my number and email address (but didn't get me his). He smiled big and shook her hand, thanking her.

2 days from now (thursday) he leaves her company.

Why would you tell the receptionists why you're calling? <that's sort of a business etiquette no-no>

"Hey, X, I was hoping you'd call when I heard you'd asked for my number. In any case, it was great meeting you and I hope you enjoy <whatever he's going off to do>. Bye."

Hang up.

Let him figure out what to do next.

If he's not a total bozo, he'll call you right back and apologize for not calling.

If he's a total bozo, no loss.
