That is an incorrect statement. Lesbian populations are way too small to fill the numbers of believed sex works. The vast majority of prostitutes are abused heterosexual women who have come from tragic home situations and are now technically enslaved by a man who continues to abuse them (physically and with drugs) for financial gain.
Quote: Saw a report last night that noted 70% of prostitutes have seriously considered suicide. I find it amazing that, legal or not, some consider prostitution easy or just another job option.
I agree with this statement.
I think men do not understand how vulnerable sex makes women feel. The most dangerous thing for a human woman is human man. By inviting strange men into your life you are inviting abuse and even death. Only the most desperate woman would put herself into such a situation. A prostitute never knows if her next John will have the fantasy of strangling her to death.
and the most dangerous thing for a human man is a human woman.
Maybe a lot of these women simply do this because they're whores who like money and like to f**k.
Then why don't they simply get married to a rich man and run around? A lot more security in that. A lot of men and women do just that.
Personally I think calling a woman a whore is sexist because it implies only women who like to have a variety in sexual relations are whores and men just like to play the feild.
This is turning into a women vs. man arguement.
but you won't deny that there are a few whores running around out there correct? and calling that kind of woman what she is makes me a sexist correct? Because it sounds like that's what you're saying...
if it looks, acts, and quacks like a duck sometimes it's a duck.
A whore is not always a prostitute sometimes it is just a promiscuous woman. I have just always found the term to be offensive what ever way it is used. Kind of like "bitch" is offensive for me in the same manner. Both are generally used on women and not men when men also do the same things.
And you are right to blame all prostitution because of some man is just as sexist. Sometimes it might be the case or it might be a lot of other reasons and one them might just be because a person chooses to make money that way another might be a lack of options in a poor environment or making money for drugs or human trafficking.
It is a ugly environment and bringing up porn shows with women saying that like do it don't take away all the horrible things about it.
Prostitution: Causes and Solutions
Quote:The culture, particular mass media, is playing a large role in normalizing prostitution by
portraying prostitution as glamorous or a way to make a lot of money quickly and easily. Of
course, within the commercial world of entertainment, there are many connections between the
film and publishing industries and pornography production, between tourist entertainment and
sex tourism. Generally, the media is invested in supporting the expansion of the sex industry.

Perhaps I spoke too hastily the other day when I lightly said ..."why can't they."
One thing that cannot be denied it is a dangerous profession in that you are hooking up with someone you don't know in an intimate setting and perhaps by making it legal we can control the violence and exploitation connected to it.
Its all a little over my understanding and way more complicated that I first thought.
