Hmmm - yes - he has been a busy flyer (flies a lot for work, anyway, so he has numeroso frequent flyer points).

Oddly enough, we are both nervous again!

The nerves go away after about two years of this sort of relationship, Our Dear Wabbit . . . you'll get used to it . . .

Keen?

As in sharp?

I've always rather thought of myself as a dull fellow.

At any event, there's no accounting for taste, and i'm grateful for the girl having shown this interest for four years now.

I refuse to answer on the grounds that it may tend to recriminate me . . .

Things I like about being single:

That I can make decisions without regard for someone else's opinion.
That I have a slightly greater freedom of choice in my actions.

Things I dislike about being single:

That tonight will be the 1,540th night in a row I have gone to bed alone.
That today is the 674th day since I last had sex.
That at age 28, the majority of my peers are co-habiting and/or married and I am not.
That it makes me wonder if I have some serious character flaws that no-one has told me about.

Singledom is somewhere where you should go on holiday sometimes between relationships. I appear to have emigrated there and I've lost the ticket back...

I've been single for 3 years with the exception of a few dates here and there. Here are a few pro's and con's off the top of my head.

Pro's-

I don't HAVE to call anyone at a certain time.
I come and go when ever I please.
I never have to explain where I've been or with who.
My weekend's are all mine.

Con's

I don't get to spoon up against someone when falling asleep.
I don't get to hug and kiss someone special.
I can't have sex whenever I feel like it.

Keen = very enthusiatic, as in "as keen as mustard". I never thought of this as an Oz-ism, but maybe it is?

Anyway, you are definitely keen in regard to your beloved!

Thanks, Msolga.

I have to point out here that I'm not actually as depressed in real-life as you may infer from my post. I was having a particularly crappy day at work!

Yeah, I know what you mean, Grand Duke ... That flat "is this all there is" feeling. A rotten day at work, then home, then another day at work coming up. And no beloved at home to make the world feel better. <sigh> Luckily it not like this all the time, hey?

I've got plenty of mates around to keep me company, and a reasonable portion of them are even female, but none are currently suitable/available as girlfriend material. Where does a guy find a girl? My clubbing days are drawing to a close. When I go to pub I only go if there's a reasonable chance of getting a seat! Old before my time at 28? Maybe...

I stepped out of the bi-weekly club forays in my late 20's as well, Grand Duke. The chances of finding something or someone meaningful hanging off of a bar were/are pretty slim.

It's like the old proverb says, "Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder".

Clubs are too loud for my usual methods. I'm not of a physical type to be able to just 'give the eyes' and start the ball-rolling. I'm as likely to get kicked out for stalking! Laughing

Any of you lovely ladies got any tips for a guy? (apart from not refering to women as 'lovely ladies' in a 1950's style)

I'll take 'lovely lady' over 'yo bee-otch' anyday.
