It's easier to stay home from the school as they have others to do my job (but I don't get paid). It's harder to stay home from taking care of my sister's kids (when I would get paid). If I stay home, one of them has to as well. They're both, apparently, super-important people at work. My sister is one of those who don't really believe in taking sick time, except if it's for something not having to do with being sick. She doesn't get sick. I put in a call to our parents to see if they could come up and cover for me. They're already planning on being here sometime friday, I'm hoping I can get them up sometime tomorrow. Even my mom started giving me **** about taking time off work because I am so short on cash.
Oof. You're sick! You need to rest!
Hope your mom will come through. (Will bite tongue re: sister.)
So, the nasal decongestant can only be used for 3 to 5 days. I used a small amount of it for 3 days and stopped. The last thing I want right now is a rebound situation. I looked online to see how long I should wait before reusing it. Most pages say that I should not reuse the bottle. That after the 3-5 day window, the bottle should be thrown away. Why don't they manufacture it in 5-day bottles? Now I have to throw out the bulk of the meds?
Parents won't come. She suggested that my sister thinks I'm over-playing it.
Aw crap.
Can Dasha watch the kids?
Heh.
Wow - I think what you have is serious. You should stay away from the kids so they don't catch it and you need to rest. I think your family is nuts to imply you are overreacting.
I am so sorry you're suffering like this, littlek. Ear infections are among
the worse pains there are, and I hope you'll get some relief soon.
An old home remedy: cut an onion in half, put it in the microwave
for a minute to get hot, roll it into a paper towel and hold against the
ear. I don't know why, but it does help to reduce the pain.
Do you have health insurance?

It seems, your sister is taking you for granted. You're entitled to sick days,
take them!!
They're really nice people, my family. But I think they don't have much empathy for ailments like this. My mother does think I'm sick, she was postulating that my sister didn't think it was that serious. I have kept my sense of humor in public, maybe that's why.
I felt like I was trying to be so objective here, too.
Jane, this is an ongoing issue. I have had to rip them from her hands in the past. And that was when I had a fever of 103 and doctor's orders to stay home from work all week. Even then I was pushed back into work by thursday.
I do have health insurance. There's a 25 buck co-pay and no drug coverage.
You've been objective, littlek, it's just you're dealing with nurturing mothers here, and we would put you into bed until you'll feel better.
Hm, maybe the ENT could give you samples, if you tell him you don't
have drug coverage. They've got usually plenty of amoxicillin samples
to give to patients.
Your family is out to lunch. Stop. You don't need to be doing woozy days, it is counterproductive. Let them deal, you are not the doormat.
I've got amoxicillin, Jane, been on it since sunday. I don't think they were that expensive, as far as medications go. But, I didn't look at the receipt.
Don't let me near your sister. I remember her from before.
And here's where I want to defend her, as a person. You know what will happen, Osso. Same as before. I'll work. She'll make the day shorter.
And, if one of them has to stay home, ooooooh, too bad.
This pisses me off. You should not work.
Wait, she'll get sick one day, and you'll be the one to care for her, the totally frightened person. This is nonsense.
Maybe I'll feel better tomorrow....?
