Anastia, welcome! Interesting story. I'm looking forward to more...

Dear Diary,

another weekend - almost over. I'm still somehow shocked by what happened to the space shuttle Columbia. But on the private side, it was a good weekend. A good friend of mine visited and we had a great Saturday evening eating Italian food and going to the bar. Today the restaurant where BigDice works was celebrating its 25th year of service with a big Sicilian lunch buffet. Oh, how I love good food! And with nice company. Now I'm ready for a quiet Sunday evening, drinking tea, enjoying some A2K and later on read a book.

She's female. Dobry sounds right for slovak, but she'd understand the croatian anyway.

DD,
On Tuesday, I slipped on a patch of ice, hit my face on a parking meter, wrenched a shoulder and twisted my knee. Luckily, my nose wasn't broken, but I have two, huge black eyes. Until today, my eyes were so swollen that I couldn't read for more than a few minutes.

That is the last time I try to beat up on a parking meter! Oy.

Wow - this Dear Diary is a lot busier than the ones we had on abuzz!

I'm feeling perkier today than I have for a week - maybe something to do with catching up on sleep, but I suspect that calling someone last night had an effect, too.

This is an ex-girlfriend (from 8 years ago!) who I haven't spoken to in ages - she's now married and expecting her second baby - I haven't seen her in over 3 years.

I've been meaning to call her for a long time and catch up, so it was strange to say, "Hi [C], it's Peter" and have her respond as if I'd seen her last week. We'll probably meet sometime soon and see how life is for each other.

It was really good to have that instant acceptance, particularly as I was feeling very "blanked" by the woman I want to date, who hasn't returned my call.

It's strange to share all this online, isn't it? I'm not even looking for answers, just writing it down because it feels good to do so.

Good luck with the working week, the week of study, leisure, clearing snow or looking after home and kids - whatever - I wish you the best! KP

Back from another visit with oldest daughter
Returned from a visit with the eldest daughter,
left last Tuesday and got home this Sunday. This most
recent visit went very well - very smoothly, only on 2
occasions did my daughter have to remind me that I was
overstepping my grandparent boundaries, and once
was over Oreo cookies - so that barely counts!
I was SO pleased that the visit began and ended on
a very positive note - so you can imagine my utter
surprise at her phone call today!!
She is angry and doesn't want me staying with them
at their house in the future. I even spent several nights
at a hotel this time, because I am so considerate of
how annoying house guests can be after more than 2
or 3 days.
Fortunately, my middle daughter went also, so she
did the driving - and THAT was a MAJOR load off me,
I detest long drives & I often get too tired to keep
going and end up stopping somewhere to sleep &
continuing on the next day.
But ALL is essentially fine. Jade, my 6 year old
grandson - did get his cast off about 4 weeks ago, and
he can stop being so protective of that arm since the
doctor feels it has had adequate time to heal completely.
He is so happy to be back on the monkey bars Laughing Laughing
It IS possible that she is intensely jealous of the easy
relationship between Jade and I. She is always picking
on him, and expecting perfection (from a 6 yr old)
New parents!!! When I was a new parent, I was only too
happy to get input from an older female about how to do
this, or what to do about that. But then, I had much more
humility, as an individual, than my daughter does.

babs, one gets the feeling you two have some unresolved issues. I have been watching my wife, B., interact with our daughter-in-law and 16 month old grandson. Whereas, I may be more outspoken, she waits for them to ask questions. As it turns out, they spend a lot of time talking to her. I wind up being more of a spectator.
