The cat is acting normal again: social and chatty, interactive, eating, etc. I gave him his usual dose for the first time in a week, maybe. We'll see how tonight goes.....

Chatty? Do consecutive "meows" constitute chat?

If you say hi to him, he meows back. When he walks into a room, he meows his greetings to the people there.

I have to move to Boston. The drugs sound wonderful.

You don't need drugs when you're me.

That's great news, k!

Hoping to hear that he's close to 100% tomorrow.

Good! Very Happy ...... & may this continue!

I think you chose the wrong career, k. Veterinary science seems right up your alleyway. You're a natural!

That was another career nagging at me for all of my adult life. Looks like he's going to be taking another little road trip with me this weekend. To a hotel..... I am hoping things go well there.

Argh! Another low BG today. The first day he had a full-dose of insulin in a while. And, he went low early, within 2.5 hours of administering the meds. The peak is usually 4-5 hours after. So, I stuck around all day and fed him sugar and karo syrup with his food. Now I can't shoot him this evening.

Maybe he's just done with 4 units? I'd tend to think that, but he had high sugars in his urine last night........ clock's ticking down to sat. am. Will we go? I could probably use a weekend to get my **** together.....

Sad I will feel terrible if you won't be able to go to the wedding. Then again, I'm not sure if I'd know what to do if he got really sick.... I guess so. Ack. I shouldda put it on my calendar when we talked about it.

I'm hoping he's picked up a bit by now, k, but the situation sounds very worrying. Fingers crossed!

Dasha, I didn't go to the wedding. But, there's more stuff going on there. He's been ok, but I'm still confused.

He seems to be content these days on 3 units twice a day instead of 4 units 2/day. Last night he played a little, spontaneously. I don't know why he only needs 3 units now. Maybe that's because he doesn't eat as much anymore....? So, I had been doing the 3 units for a while, last week I did one 4 unit dose and he slumped (as I posted). I went back to 3 units, but his pee showed consistently high levels of glucose (I tried to measure it twice a day: in the morning and before bed).

But, then, this am JUST AFTER I gave him 3 units, he peed - and I tested. He had NO glucose in his urine. This is scary. The urine collects over several hours and at some point, there should have been glucose in it (it's best for me to err on the slight glucose elevation since I don't test his blood and slightly too much sugar is better than too little). So, now I am trying to keep an eye on him and remind him to eat, just in case, even though he hasn't presented signs of low BG. But, he keeps hiding from me because I am bugging him.
