Dear Ms. HoT, I'm just mentally lazy, and I have no fears of any high tech attack for two reasons; I back up my work on disc, and we have McAfee and Norton. Besides, all of you keep me entertained well enough without my participation. c.i.

P+L: last Friday, one by one, East Coast TV stations switched from live interview with Gov. Tom Ridge (of Homeland Security, on - you guessed it - duct tape and plastic sheeting) and switched to helicopter pictures of rescue of a dog stranded in a New Jersey river on an ice floe.

Gov. Ridge had to wait until the dog was taken by 2 firemen in a rowboat and safely hopped on dry land. An updated version of (arguably the funniest book ever) "Three Men in a Boat - to Say Nothing of the Dog" <G>

Gosh, HofT, it's too bad they bothered going back to Ridge. They could have just switched to Animal Planet for a little healthy reality TV instead of the cheap fiction we've been seeing for far too long.

Hi everybody--how does HIAMA do it? He doesn't know me that well, does he? Yes, I went back to Saks to purchase the undies that I tried on while trapped in the dressing room. With that much time to shop, I certainly wasn't going to let all my best picks go back to the shelves. Never have I had such a wonderful undie wardrobe!

Danon adn hebba-- it is very good to see both of you. You've both been missed. BTW, has Mikey disappeared?

Ah, a warm fire and....is that wet dog I smell? HI, Jack, you bring a special redolence to Lola's. It really makes the place homey and charmingly musty.

We have quite a group here. Could it be time for a party? Let's start with dinner. I believe Withers is serving duct soup.

How about Lola's Luxury Lilo !

Great to see so many happy faces here, Hi Hebba I don't believe I've had the pleasure of meeting you. Being a Brit my visits are usually out of sync with most of the gang.

Hey P & L have you forgiven me for getting Jack soaked through ?

Stradee I only managed between 3 and 4 miles yesterday, the 10 miler last week was a bit too far, it took it out of me. You look well on your 2 miles.

I see Lola's gone to bad and Blatham's gone back to the Iraq war, I wish them both well in their endeavours.

Diane you do look rather fetching in your new finery, Saks sits well on you my dear. Hoft my love I hope you have been discreet about our trip to Siberia, my lips have been sealed and will remain so.

Danon has left me a little of the Armagnac so I will drink it before I swim back across the pond , work beckons. Arrow

It's true, HIAMA. I have gone to bad. And I believe it can only get worse from here. (kissing HIAMA on the cheek.) Good morning. I understand why the 10 miles was a bit too much. After all that swimming (across the pond) who could run? I can't even swim... thus my journey into bad.

<stretching> Good morning all. How about some coffee and a bagel? There's also eggs and biscuits in the kitchen. Scone, anyone?

Hi Lola, yummm, a scone sounds delicious! I love sitting around a big kitchen table, smelling breakfast cooking on the stove, hearing the coffee brewing, watching the day begin.

Please pass the strawberry preserves, for this warm scone. Thanks!

(Following Lola's excellent example, PaL gives hiama a kiss on the cheek.)

HofT, I listened to "Three Men In A Boat" on an audio-book, while driving back and forth to work. The actor who was reading was really good, and I laughed out loud while driving through traffic. Loved the dog, "Montmorecy".

Stradee, thanks for noticing Jack's excellent glider-flying ability! He always looks so cute in his Snoopy-The-Red-Baron outfit!

Diane, loved Wither's "duct soup"!!

(Jack gives Diane a kiss on the cheek!)

Very Happy

Hiama - haven't said a single word to anyone about our scientific experiments in Siberia. Honest.

Still, Stradee the CommoGoddess, Lola our hostess, and P+L's darling doggie, now a distinguished glider pilot (not to mention spirit of long-gone doggie Montmorency!) all seem to be zeroeing in on what might have caused that discontinuity in my Goblin's comm. stream and/or the fatigue you report, not hitherto known to result from either running 10 miles or swimming across cold North Atlantic waters - ahem!

There is one tactical approach to be followed, and one only, and I shall imitate you in it: fleeing at top speed, and (possibly) reappearing by next weekend, after fallout has settled <G>

Lola's Salon
"Good morning Lola, P&L, and Hiama" greets Stradee

Scones and coffee sound good after 2 mile run ~ Stradee amazed Hiama runs 5-10 miles per day, then swims across the pond for work <Stradee happy when legs work after only 2 mile run!> giving Hiama warm hug thanking him for nice compliment ~

Please forgive my rudeness for not introducing myself, Heppa. I'm Stradee-the Commo Goddess ~ pleased to me you

Speaking of Commo ~ Hoft will pleeeze keep Goblin comm mid range for emergency calls from Lola's ~ fallout ceasing plus wishing good work week

Stradee reading about war in Iraq today. Humvees speeding across the dessert <if deployed> Troops dressed head to toe with anti-bio gear/
and sitting atop each humvee? Chickens

Where are Jes's clickers? Can we possibly relocate the idea of war to another galaxy dimension?

Placing the newspaper aside/ Stradee thanks Lola for delicious breakfast,
gathers breifcase and prepares for busy work week.

"Will see you all in a few days" Stradee waves and begins walking toward Hornet ~

Hiama at pains to point out he only runs such prodigious distances at the weekend and maybe once in the week, the rest of the time is spent working and driving, he has a better relationship with his Ford than any other human being- it doesn't contradict him or answer back !

Hiama is feeling nice and loved with all the kisses on his cheeks from all the nice salon ladies and goes to sleep dreaming very pleasant thoughts indeed.

New code with the Tooth Fairy?!

<Quickly rummaging through pile of books-to-be-given-away for old copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales; giving up search but not before finding another surprise book to send to Blatham in deep appreciation of message confirming arrival of documents; packing again, looking forward to reading developments in Lola's Salon!>

Hiama wakes from his Rip Van Winkle like sleep runs his eyes, smells the faint whisper of Cobalt's perfume mingling with that of Hoft's , they're both gone.

At least someone tucked me up nice and comfy I've slept through two days and two nights. He takes a quick dip in the pool and swims a few lenghts with Danon, they dry themslves by the fire and have some nice hot chocolate with flaked chocolate and Cointreau. Danon, its been a long time since we had a literary discussion. What do you think of the work of Honore de Balzac ?

hiama,
Ahh, Balzac, I appreciate the self drive that beleagered his writing years. It was the thing that allowed his wit to shine but hindered not his extravagances. He was a leader in style and example, opening novels door to all. I have not finished 'La Comedie Humaine'.

Hmmmm, good aperitif.

Don't mean to scare anybody out of their wits, but anybody else hooked up to a web cam? I got one, because my friend in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania got one, and he kind of hinted I should get one too! It arrived today, and installed it in less than 30 minutes. Wink c.i.
