Conversation is one thing - butt, the Belgick's end solution is a bit of a harrowing thought.

Oh my goodness.

And back to the fishies: Piping hot fish and chips for all! And pints of Bass all around. Fresh homemade mayo, tartar sauce, and of course vinegar, ketchup, and cocktail sauce are on the table. Dig in!

Viz, bouillabaise was mentioned earlier and the champagne you wanted before you left is chilled and ready to imbibe. I'll join you. Just love all this drinking in cyberspace!

Withers will work his magic and we all will have a lovely dinner.

Bouillabaisse would be wonderful! Thank you! (Champagne with fish stew? Oh, why not!!!)

I wonder if Danon had bouillabaisse while he was in New Orleans...and how did it compare with this?

So glad to be back among friends!

So glad you are here, Viz. Ummm um, a delicious dinner. Cyber-debauchery..........excellent. Thank you MaryCat and to all others who contributed.

Entering the salon, Lola takes a seat in her chair. Withers brings after dinner drinks and the friends all sit down for some conversation about artistic freedom and the dignity of mankind.

Lola's
Stradee runs toward the sitting room waving a copy of new Horse Slaughter
legislation <when passed will end murderous killing of horses in the U.S!>

Horse Slaughter Prevention Act Gains Additional Sponsors

The American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, to ban the trade in horsemeat and slaughter of live horses bound for human consumption has been reintroduced by Reps. John Sweeney (R-NY) and John Spratt (D-SC). "Many horses are hauled to slaughter and killed under inhumane conditions," said Representative Sweeny. "Some of the horses who are killed for this industry have been stolen or acquired under false pretenses and other animals may be wild horses illegally sold for their meat. The American people want the cruelty to end, and the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act will do that."

Currently the bill has 46 cosponsors. Find out of your representative is already a sponsor here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d108:h.r.00857:

Take Action: Ask your representative to support the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act (H.R. 857). Send an Action Letter directly to Congressional members at http://cw2k.capweb.net/ddal/letterstate.cfm. Or call the Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121.

Much thanks to Hoft for her great research regarding Whales and Dolphins.

Danon watches the Hornet fade into the sky, a faint smile on his face.
Hi Viz - he said - I tasted the bouillabaisse and it was very good, but, I prefer a well made cioppino. Patti makes it the best.

Dammit! Just missed that Hornet! Maybe can trick Blatham into buying me a supersonic plane too. Love my Goblin still, though if we could add an extension to the airplane hangar behind Lola's Salon - ummm......

Btw - did y'all know Stradee adopted at one point a 2-week-old furry animal whose mother was shot by poachers? The tiny furry animal grew, and grew, and kept growing, but he still thinks of her as mom <G>

Peace&Love and Jack (super Border Collie) find Lola in her kitchen and give her a big hug...

"Hello!! We've been off playing Frisbee all this time.... Hope you had a good Mothers Day.... A trip to Italy?.... Oh, what fun that would be!!.... my cousins live in Belguim.... they've invited me to come and visit.... one of my cousins was here last summer and we had a couple of days to visit and she had the chance to meet my mom, whose mother came here from Belguim.... it was a wonderful visit... As you may remember, I'm a member of an internet Border Collie group, and one of our members lives in Italy, where she and her husband train Border Collies for herding, and they go to lots of herding trials in Italy.... I think they're in Southern Italy.... so, Yes! Let's go!!.... "

PaL sniffs around the stove.... "yumm this smells good... has MaryCat been cooking?"

Jack is sniffing at the lower cupboard door, where the Scooby Snacks box is kept.... "Woof"

"Oh, guess what Jack and I did... we entered a Disc-Dog competition last Saturday... Jack caught the Frisbee, within the allowable area, enough times to earn us 9 points.... well, we certainly weren't in first place, actually closer to the bottom of the placings, but we had a wonderful time, and it was tons of fun, and we made lots of new friends...."

"Stradee, have passed along your links to one of our Border Collie group members, who lives in Texas.... I just love the intricacies of the world-wide-web! Now, please tell us about the 2-week-old furry animal that you adopted... it sounds intriguing!!"

"HofT, thanks so much for the offer to fly to England, to watch the TV show.... don't worry about postponing the trip.... perhaps we can simply rearrange the satelite dish to beam into the BBC network!!"

PaL gives Jack a Scooby Snack and sips her morning coffee and looks for the NYT's crossword puzzle.....

Very Happy

HofT, is Stradee the lady in the picture? Whether she is or not, it's a great photo.
Did you know that, during the mad cow disease scare, lots of horse meat was consumed in France, where it is still fairly popular?

P&L, I'll join you for coffee and look over your shoulder at the NY Time's crossword puzzle.

There you all are! I thought you'd all be down at the stables, looking at some of those darling horsies we saved! So nice of you to bring a couple back here, Lola. Now I can ride with you!

Pssst...there's a beautiful mare down there, a palomino...may I claim her?

Stradee presents Hoft with photo albums of supersonic jet aircraft for her selection ~

P&L ~ Jack was marvelous at the meet! How many doggies can fly a glider
and catch frisbees all at the same time Very Happy Stradee gives Jack a treat and smooch ~

All I can say about adopting "Simba" the tiger, "Tara" the asian elephant,
"Spikey" the gray wolf, and a herd of mustangs and burros is ~ what was I thinking! Only kidding. The animals really quite wonderful even though replacing the house furniture every few months inconvenient as heck. The little critters refuse living in the barn! Must be the Italian food.

Speaking of Italy ~ cousins of mine reside in Lucca <my gradparents house> I'd love visiting Italy! My great grandparents immigrated to the U.S bringing their kids <my grandparents> and worked their way from New York settling in San Francisco <my dad's parents lived in Glen Ellen first then moved to San Francisco>

Don't leave without me!

Stradee and Hoft refuel supersonic jets and invite a Texas Senator waterskiing ~

Thanks, Stradee, for pics of jets, but didn't find anything I liked so far - will keep looking! Is HIAMA still around and on his supercomputer?? The university with the time-motion program (about racehorses placing each hoof down with metronomic precision like spokes in a 4-spoked wheel) came back and said that this darling horsie, Funny Cide, a gelding from New York >>

http://www.drf.com/images/funnycide2_200_051303.jpg

>> scored 98.5% in an analysis of his run at the Kentucky Derby (he won). Those who followed discussion earlier know that Northern Dancer and Secretariat scored 100% using the same program based on their runs on the same track. Desperately looking for more money to feed darling tigers, elephants, dolphins, wolfies, and other adopted critters (not to mention finance airplane purchases) hope HIAMA will show up with his own computer analysis of the competitors at the next race, Preakness.

Could Lola's Salon install a casino and betting room in the attic - just wondering <G>

Ten Cents a Shine, Kissin Saint, Senor Swinger, Foufa's Warrior, Midway Road, Cherokee's Boy, Scrimshaw, Peace Rules and New York Hero.

10 in all. Fellow gamblers and computer experts - pls concentrate!

Ladies and horses. I found this poem here.........................
http://jaime_k.tripod.com/poem.html

Let me teach you.
When you are tense, let me teach you to relax.
When you are short tempered, let me teach you to be patient.
When you are short sighted, let me teach you to see.
When you are quick to react, let me teach you to be thoughtful.
When you are angry, let me teach you to be serene.
When you feel superior, let me teach you to be respectful.
When you are self-absorbed, let me teach you to think of greater things.
When you are arrogant, let me teach you humility.
When you are lonely, let me be your companion.
When you are tired, let me carry the load.
When you need to learn, let me teach you.
After all, I am your horse.

My mother once told me a story of when she went riding with my father, many a long year ago. My father had been in the British Cavalry and what he didn't know about horses wasn't worth knowing.
One day he took my mother riding in some steep hilly country in the south west of England. At one stage the track they wereon was narrow, steep and with a shere drop of about 100 feet on one side. My mother began to get rather anxious and wished for rescue, as would any damsel in distress. My father wasn't impressed by her pleas and suggested that she leave matters in the horses control as he knew what he was doing and had more common sence. My mother's reply is unprintable.

Great poem AND story, OaK!

Let me hazard a guess...the horseriding incident happened AFTER you were born, right? (My reply would have been unprintable, too!)

Say, who's up for a ride today? (On the horses, silly!)...Lola? Stradee? HofT? P&L? Diane? OaK? Dys? Hiama?...say, where has that Hiama been lately anyway?

Hiama must please hurry with supercomputer data. Just received "wish list"
from Howling Acres ~ plus new pic of Spike. <he is just too cute>

Oak ~ Thanks for wonderful horse poem. How true! Sweet Dancer has certainly gotten us both out of harrowing circumstances <especially when descending a steep grade of shale rock> I remember saying softly "eek" ~
and Sweet's reply? Well, in horse whisper it was something like "just close your eyes and balance" ~

Hi Viz === No the story was from their pre-nuptials days. I believe I was conceived during an air raid during WW2 in the air raid shelter. Well it's a better idea than a wet sunday afternoon matinee.
Now if we go riding can I have the big daft, soppy ol' shire horse.

Stradee when I've gone horse riding I prefer not to go too fast. Walk , trot , gentle canter is enough for me. My daughter even as a kid of about 10 would go up the gears thru gallop and into hurtle hi-speed. Then come back a bit later with a big grin on her face and say "you're an old slow coach dad".
