Withers, can I have a double shot skinny grande latte pls ? Hey hiama !! Isn't it nice the way Diane's socks perfume lingers in the air for so long. Reminds me of the walk in my garden the other day (before I was chased inside by the honey bees)

Yes it sure is Gautam, do you think we should invite some of the a2k'ers to see the way the blossom has come off the trees and left a white and pink carpet on the lawn ?

Bloody hell hiama !! Just today morning while I was sitting in my patio with my coffee, I was admiring the way the pink and white flowers from a bush towards the back of my garden have formed a carpet just like u described !!!

How did u do it ?

Too windy here for patio sitting, more's the pity. So my lovely wife and I breakfasted indoors, and watched how the wind moves the branches of the young trees, and some bigger ones further away, laden with their clothing of new fresh green leaves.
I'm waiting for the piano tuner man to call this morning. Sometimes if he has time he plays a few pieces before he goes- he plays better than me.
Italy? I love northern Italy. We've been there only once, near Barga and Lucca, with views of the Alpi Apuene. Divine, heavenly in summer. A wonderful place. Has anyone heard of the Cinque Terre? Clifftop paths, baking hot sun, Ligurian Sea, wow!

You can walk up the tower in Pisa now. They've completed the stabilization.

Naples...be sure to visit Capri. Sunshine, flowers, handpainted tile work everywhere, very scenic, very laid back. Since you prefer villages to big cities, this would be much more to your liking. Just go down the coast a very short distance to Sorrento (worth a stop) and take the ferry. You can look back across the bay to Naples and Mt. Vesuvius. (Pompeii is very close, too.)

I wish I were going!

(I'll be gone for a couple of days. Save some champagne for me!)

Viz, the champagne will be chilled and ready for your return. Hurry back.

You Brits are the sweetiest guys for not mentioning the cow patty residue on my boots (although it's wonderful for those beautiful English gardens).

After a night of the most delightful champagne dreams, I'm ready for a trip to Italy, maybe the Tuscany region. Maybe we could rent a villa for the entire Salon.

Well Diane, if you want to go to Tuscany, you need to learn some Italian songs, so that you can get in the right mood.

Fra' Martino
(Italiano)

Fra' Martino campanaro
dormi tu, dormi tu?
Suona le campane,
suona le campane,
din don dan
din don dan.

La mia mamma, matta matta
(Italian)

La mia mamma, matta matta
M'ha pigiato nella pignatta.
Mia sorella, bella bella
M'ha posato nel cestello.
Il mio papĂ , quatton quattoni
M'ha pappato in un boccone.
Per l'amor di San Martino
Son diventato un bel uccellino:
Cip, cip, cip!

http://www.mamalisa.com/world/italy.html

or this one

Three coins in the fountain
Each one seeking happiness
Thrown by three hopeful lovers
Which one will the fountain bless

Three hearts in the fountain
Each heart longing for its home
There they lie in the fountain
Somewhere in the heart of Rome

Which one will the fountain bless
Which one will the fountain bless

Three coins in the fountain
Through the ripples how they shine
Just one wishwill be granted
One heart will wear a valentin

Make it mine, make it mine
Make it mine, make it mine

My Patti is mostly Italian - with tons of relatives in a most beautiful valley in N Italy (close to Lake Garda) who are begging us to return - so we have all the native music we want - thank you.

Actually found out on our last visit that most of the Italian songs we could 'hum' were from the SOUTHERN parts of Italy. WOW!! How did we know that was a bad thing?!?!?!?!?!

Isn't it funny, Danonn the regional prejudices in other countries? It's just like home, but somehow I had expected Europeans to be different. But why?

A few old Euro jokes for you Lola

Welsh people were originaly Irish people who could swim

German's ardently believe you eat too live, where as
The French believe you live to eat

Germans show their strength by SPEAKING VERY VERY LOUDLY & Driving very very fast, whilst
The English mumble away in there Anglo Saxon tongue then shoot you when you aren't looking.

In France if the cops are chasing you, it's the 2nd shot that is the warning one, but of course you never hear it.

In The Benelux countries you can always tell if you have a Belguin family next door coz they hang their toilet paper out to dry on the washing line.

not the garlic powered police squad, they use snails and lower you into a vat of boulibaise fish soup.

OOoooooooh bouillabaise! I love bouillabaise! With aioli and toast points. Lola, do we have lots of fishies and aromatic veggies around? I think it is time to make a trip to the fish monger and the green market. Lessee, let's make a list. Garlic, saffron, fishies and more fish...

Chips with bouillabaise?!?

Or do you prefer the fried fillet with your chips, in classic English pub style? I like fish and chips. But not in my soup. I'll make you a special basket of fish and chips. With malt vinegar, of course.

Lola sitting in dining room waiting for the fish and chips. Thank you Marycat! This should be delicious.

OAK, very funny. It's true about the Belguin families and the toliet paper. I guess some of us are more dedicated to conservation than others. :-)
