It was with some trepidation that we opened a most interesting card, which announced on a blue-jeaned cowboy's belt buckle something called the "5th Annual VOLPAC '06 Weekend" in Nashville on April 21-23.

Problem was you had to unbuckle the cowboy's pants and look inside to see what this was all about. Seemed a bit too "Brokeback Mountain."

Imagine our relief to find only that we were "cordially invited" to the event honoring Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) and "Mrs. Bill Frist, M.D." This is Frist's political action committee to raise money for other senators, making friends and positioning him nicely for his 2008 presidential bid.

Big-time donors can golf, ride bikes, tour a recording studio and have lunch at the Frist Center for the Visual Arts. Then, after a cozy cocktail reception, there's Saturday night at the Grand Ole Opry and breakfast at the lovely Hermitage Hotel on Sunday morning.

"Don't miss a celebration of southern hospitality," the invite says, "one-of-a-kind music and special friends . . ." though it's unclear who those friends are and what makes them special.

The back of the card shows the cowboy from behind with a red flowered handkerchief sticking out of his right pocket. Wait a minute -- wasn't there something about how this used to be some kind of code in the gay community years ago? A way to signal each other in crowded, noisy bars?

So we checked the GayCityUSA.com's Hanky Codes. Sure enough, there it was in the chart explaining what they mean: red hanky in right pocket. Oh, dear.

I repeat my original question...In light of this evidence,why didnt Clinton do anything then?

In 1971, the rock group The Who released the antiwar anthem Won't Get Fooled Again. To most in my generation, the song conveyed a sense of betrayal by the nation's leaders, who had led our country into a costly and unnecessary war in Vietnam. To those of us who were truly counterculture--who became career members of the military during those rough times--the song conveyed a very different message. To us, its lyrics evoked a feeling that we must never again stand by quietly while those ignorant of and casual about war lead us into another one and then mismanage the conduct of it. Never again, we thought, would our military's senior leaders remain silent as American troops were marched off to an ill-considered engagement. It's 35 years later, and the judgment is in: the Who had it wrong. We have been fooled again.

The US government felt that Bin Ladin and Al Qaeda was responsible so any attack would have been retailiation and not preemptive. It matters not whether you quoted it or said it directly.

Your silly statement remains silly. Bin Laden and Al Qaeda could have been attacked prior to 9/11 and it would NOT have been preemptive. Reports that Al Qaeda were preparing to hijack planes, while vague, were not the only reason to go after them.

As for the second posting I made mm.. I suggest you read your NEXT statement after the newsmax article you quoted.

Why didn't Clinton do what? A preemptive strike? or are you asking why he didn't do a RETALIATION? You seem to think there was a LOT of evidence of Bin Laden and crimes in 1996 and Clinton is guilty for not acting. Now you imply there was no such evidence in 2001 and Bush had no real excuse other than preemption.

I did show where the govt,even under Clinton,thought OBL was responsible and did nothing.

I doubt that, given the over-blown ( :wink: ) response to Bill and Monica, democrats holding public office are doing the same things but not getting any ink just because such is expected from "liberals." You can bet there'd be plenty of reporting if that were the case.

They even seem to have a pinchant for writing "dirty" books.

There is another choice,that being that dems are better at hiding the crimes they commit,or are better at silencing the witnesses againt them.

It shows that the repubs that are criminals do get caught and go to prison.

He was also charged with trying to cover up the offenses by lying to investigators and persuading the victim to recant falsely.

Surely you don't believe democratic lawmakers are immune to the same types of crimes?
