Ant bites: According to a book I have on home remedies, you can actually use a blob of dirt pressed and held on to ant bites.

Cool. Ants don't bite around here (as far as I know) but we get awful mosquitos sometimes. Did it say it worked for those as well?

I think it might have been for bug bites in general. Can't remember. You could try though. Doesn't mud have a "drawing out toxins" effect?

I think shutting off the air from any sort of itch is helpful.

Mud is traditional for wasp and hornet bites.

So... is your head wrapped in a hot towel? (I suspect a hot towel doesn't matter).

The only anecdote I have to add is that I once heard the phone when I was in the shower stall and found myself in a 45 minute or longer conversation, declothed and detowelled. In Los Angeles in summer the declothing part is no big deal.

The news is that after I got back in the shower and washed the conditioner off and it dried, my hair was never so silky lovely...

No hot towel, osso. But definitely one wrapped around the pillow last night! AND shower cap, fixed securely on head! Ravishing sight!Laughing

Ok, reporting back on the coconut oil treatment!: I think it's an improvement, though perhaps I left it on for too long? Yes, I'd definitely say an improvement, but honestly, I don't think I could do this twice a week like you do, G. A bit inconvenient. I'm not crazy about the herbal shampoo I bought, though. Feels heavy & difficult to lather, then reluctant to wash out. Which brand do you recommend, G?

i only got as far as a pure herbal shampoo. it's called Weleda and it's out of rosemary. without the coconut oil (had no time to hunt an asian store down yet to find some) it leaves my hair frizzy, looking like a bird's nest. ha. must find me some of that. maybe when i'm in boston. i know where to go there.

I honestly don't know, G. You see, I dropped it on the (tile) floor when unpacking the shopping & the neck of the bottle broke off! So I rescued what I could & put it in another container. I know it had henna in it & is green & very, very thick. It was the only one available at my little Indian grocery shop. Quite a job to wash it out after a shampoo! I'll look around for Ayur.
