I still say that either The Salt Lick (the hills) or Sam Hill's (the lakes) would be a fun place to meet Very Happy

Thank you, max. I should have mentioned you as our long-time resident/Austin expert! Embarrassed

Hey, I could be up for a mid-August mini-gathering! Sounds like fun!

This gathering should be fun! I've just returned from Albuquerque. Looking forward to this one in August or October!

Yes yes, I wanna, I wanna, let's do it in October, please, August is sooooo stiflingly oppressive.

What if we congregated someplace where we can sit and look at Lake Travis and eat some la comida Mexicana magnifica and drink a frozen margarita or sixteen and watch the sun slip behind the hills.

Then we can go to the capital or the LBJ library or Sixth Street for some jam or watch the bats fly or...what else?

October is for the long one. I am just going to be in San Antonio the last Wed, Thur, Fri in July or the first in August for family vacation at Sea World. Plan on having a meal with anyone who wants to - seeing as Max and MaryCat live there, sure hoping we can get a convienent time. I will work on it when plans are known.

Anyone who wants to join, let me know and I will be sure to get information to them.

Remember the long one is still being planned for the 10-13th of October, at this point in time! Looking forward to seeing everyone.

oops, the 13th of October is my birthday and I may have objections from my family if I'm away that day. It doesn't mean I can't make it on the 13th, but if it's moveable it would be better. How about the next week end in October. If not, I'll be there anyway.

Woohoo!

I can't make work schedules this far in advance, so I'll need reminders as both sets of dates approach, but I'm absolutely there! (Wherever "there" is.)

Still getting geared up for my first Texas summer...

If the July/August mini-gathering/meal could possibly be on Friday 8/1 or Saturday 8/2, I'll be there too!

Lola, your birthday falls on a Monday, and I'm thinking that the gathering will mostly be on the previous weekend, i.e. 10/10-10/12. Will that work out okay? (I can't make the weekend of 10/17-10/19, so I'm hopeful that the earlier weekend will be OK...)

Will keep checking into this thread justincase I can attend. I do plan to be passing thru Texas at some point between July 25 and mid-October. My youngest son graduates from Basic in the Air Force in San Antonio that weekend in July! I've got my invitation from the government and my pass, but the finances are not there, sadly.

In the two stretches I lived in Texas, I never made it to the two cool places - Austin and San Antone. Rats! I will look out to see if there is a way to get wicha all, y'all!

Hi guys!

I recently joined A2K and just happen to live in Austin. I hope you don't mind if I jump in here.

I'm usually free on the weekends (one of the good things about being single, I guess), except, of course, on major holidays when I spend time with my family.

I've only lived here for about four years, but maybe I can help out on this end.

Very glad to see you Sinkerhawk. Welcome to the site and to this thread! I think you'll find a fun, smart group of people here. I hope you enjoy.

Mac, that does help. Either week end will be just fine with me.

You know I keep saying Sam Hill's for the lakes or The Salt Lick for the hills. Then today I thought , well, hell why not Chuys, but a friend of mine called today and told me she found a bug in her salad (the Barton Roads location-the one where the Bush girls got busted) Yuk! Anyway, what ever you guys decide I'll be there! Very Happy
