La Guardia or Newark?

Which one is faster to get to from downtown New York?

I know Newark and like it, just hop on the train from penn station... and i would calculate at least 1 or 1 1/2 hours to get there from where I'm going....

Not good. I have a talk that ends at around 8pm, maybe at 7:45 if I'm lucky. My flight options are either at 9:20 from Newark or at 9:29 from La Guardia... Seems damn near impossible. Is La Guardia closer than Newark?

Laguardia, anytime. It's a lot closer. My favorite NY airport.

how much was it, if i may ask? the super shuttle is not a good option -- they want to pick me up at 6:15pm... I'll just be starting talking at that time!

I've suffered some super shuttle lags. Cab, for sure, when time is important.

Airport limos are an expensive fraud! Beware!
Yellow cab.

(and the travel time is conservative: take those time as maximum)

Since you'll be going when it's not rush hour, a yellow cab will be fine. It's cheaper than airport limos--and just as fast.

I'm your usual public transportation person, but when I was in NY and needed to get to the airport for sure, I called yellow cab. (That was to Newark and a while ago, but well worth it - I don't remember it as being that horrible.)

thanks. it is decided then, yellow cabbing it.

what a crazy day it will be.
i am taking off from a dialogue i'm leading between participants from 2 countries that can't stand each other, that's near asheville, north carolina. drive to Charlotte (2 hours), fly for a Board meeting and this stupid talk, fly back, drive back to the 'camp' for another 2 hours. Yay.

@dagmaraka,
While La Guardia may be shorter and slightly quicker, the chances are, traffic will be the most determinant factor. If the Grand Central Pkwy is jammed, you're screwed. I'd use a cab to Newark. Cabbies are getting constant updates on traffic, and short of a limo, the most comfortable ride.
