I'll follow Linkat's song theme.
I've seen/followed the A2K gathering threads for Boston and NY wishing I was close enough to either place to join the gang.
Syn says she'll be in Chicago in late October. Can we plan a gathering while she's here? Syn, when will your dates be nailed down?
I'm pretty flexible with my time, particularly around the end of the month, although Halloween night might be a problem.
I'm in the northern suburbs, but can easily get downtown by train, or I could drive.
Any takers?
I plan to be in Chicago in December. Probably wouldn't be able to do it twice in such a short time.
But will keep an eye on this.
I love Chicago. Just wanted to mention that.
J-B,
Thanks for starting this thread! (I myself am very awkward about planning anything social.)
I am flexible about dates (I never leave Chicago.)
Probably a date should be set for when Syn, Soz, or any other out-of-towner plans on being in the Chicago area.
I love a party for any reason, so let's plan two.
The first can be in Oct as a 'welcome to Chi-town' for Zane when Syn is here and another in December with Soz.
Who lives in the area?
I'll probably decide in a week or so. I'll be there to "help" Zane with his apartment, which is still pretty empty. He should just throw a housewarming. Or not.
J_B, you can count me in.
Syn Syn Syn, I don't have enough kitchen stuff to host a party.
Zane Zane Zane. You will, soon.
I lived in Chicago and Naperville. Always found Chicago to be a vibrant city with many offerings for both resident and visitor. Haven't been to Chicago since we left back in the early seventies, but still think about the windy city from time to time.
Maybe, some day, we might visit.
Welcome to Chicago Zane, hope the move goes smooth.
I'm in for any Chicago gathering that comes along, I might even know a watering hole or two we could meet at.
Are there watering holes on N Rush Street?

I think there might be.
I like the smaller bars myself something more like the
Green Mill
Back in those days when I didn't have wrinkles, Rush Street used to be a popular venue for the college students and yung'uns. I remember one place that used to serve .05c hot dogs. Just goes to show how long ago that is.
There are a still few good bars over there but for the most part they are too big, too loud and overpriced.
It looks like I'll be in Chicago the last weekend of the month. Also looks like I'll be spending some time at IKEA. A little ambivalent about that.
That puts us at the 28th or 29th. Which is better? I'll send out a couple more pms and see if JoefromChicago or JPinMilw can join us.
I'm thinking Friday would be better for Syn and me but there are still details to be finalized..
That green glow in the East is envious me.
