I'll be in Austin over labor day... wrong holiday weekend! You'll have so much fun. Go to see the bats. You can sit out at TGIFridays and have margaritas and a free buffett and watch the bats. My favorite times.

Its really cool to see them though. I think you can see them from the deck at the Four Seasons too. I used to go almost every night. Its hard to describe the whole thing. And Las Manitas is right up the block.... mmm migas. I miss Texas, especially since its snowing today in Boston!!
Have to check with Merry Andrew's schedule. We are planning to be in West Texas over the 4th of July for the Stamford Cowboy Reunion and a family gathering. That's West Texas.
I'll be flying in from Honolulu to Boston and we are taking a driving trip to Texas and other parts of the Southwest.

The bats live under a big bridge, don't they? I would love to see them all swarm out to go hunting.
Joanne and I are going to the southwest gathering in Albuquerque over the last weekend of May. Hopefully, Dys, Roger, fbaezer and Asherman will be there. (Asherman lives there). Lola, can you make it? I'm hoping Cobalt will be able to get there. We need more women!

I would love to come to the Albuquerque gathering. I'm moving on May 15 and I'm not sure I can do it. When we get closer I'll see. I may be able to do it. It would be fun.
BillW, oh the caves are supposed to be great. I only lived there a year, and never made it out there. I think they're out on 2222.
The bats were more convenient for me. I lived downtown and had no car and they served drinks!!
Diane, The bats are Mexican freetails that live under the South Congress bridge (Town Lake) they are really something to see in August
Bat caves north and south of Austin and probably to the west, Washington-on-the-Brazos to the east.....
Well, actually they live under the bridge...
June is good for me - and the weather is still pretty good, not so hot.
The Albequerque get together is so close to ours. Any chance we could combine the two somehow?

I do see your point Lola. However, I can drive to Austin in 2 1/2 or 3 hours. Albuquerque is 1000 miles from here(!) which would require a plane ticket...though of course I can't speak for everyone else...
