That weekend is a good one to be in Austin, as all of the Longhorn football faithful will be in Dallas for the Red River Shootout (against the University of Oklahoma). So hotel rooms should be available.

We need a few locals to check in and give us some lodging and dining options.

I have mentioned this previously, but a good field trip is the LBJ library on the UT campus. We also ought to pay a visit to the Capitol.

And Sixth Street, one evening, for dining and entertainment.

I'm going to BRB with a few links...

The Holiday Inn Town Lake has a Bat Watching Cruise and two-night stay for about $200.

Add $50 and you get a fajita dinner on the cruise and breakfast for two each morning.

This sounds so good it is probably what Mr. and Mrs. PDiddie are going to do. Go here to check it out.

The Radisson has several good packages, too.

At the bottom of this MSN Citysearch page there are links to some hotels for those who are on a budget, as well as dining and entertainment options.

I'm really looking forward to the gathering.

It would be great if we could all be in the same hotel - I know we'd have lots more time together that way. PDiddie, are you booked at the HolidayInn? Let me know - I'll find out if we can get a group rate... What do you think?

Oh, you guys are meeting right around when we may be trying for a Madison gathering (not nailed down yet.) Maybe we can try for, like, a satellite feed! Razz

Well well well - lookee here what the cat dragged in .... to this thread! Ha ha!

I'd love to say I will come, but you all know better than me as to the likelyhood of good intentions and the vagaries of my life. At present I have a new home in Iowa City, and live in a palace! Really! I moved in with a young woman whose folks' bought her a great delux mobile home and I have TWO rooms and a private bath! Life is good! I see Drew about once a week and he is far happier as am I. I sub for the school system now and work at ACT (THE) as a test scorer. Heavens, now I jump up from grading early elementary student essays to those of applicants to med school thru the MCAT! What switch!

Anyhoo, want you all to know that I do my best to stay in touch with you all at least by reading when I can. The last three weeks I was "offline" and could only use public computer labs to work my blogging duties and help launch a new superblog on politics. You are all invited and welcomed to write to me and I'll give you the juicy bits - who knows - maybe I just may make it down once again to the Lone Star State. Would that be the time to add to the tat I got the last time I was in Austin?

Peace, Love, and Hugs,
cobalt
