It's Austin. Maybe Blatham can start in Dallas and drive down to San Antonio, returning to Austin in time for the gathering. How about it Blatham? We can get an Alamo pissing group together and carry out our mission. But we'll have to be quick so we don't end up in a San Antonio jail. Pictures on the front page of the paper...............

If you got caught, I have a feeling jail would be the least of your worries. Very Happy

This wandering soul may be in Texas between Thursday afternoon and Sunday night, suddenly. My youngest son graduates from Basic at the Lackland AFB in San Antone. Hoping to hear back from any online friends who I may be able to stop and see along the way to and from there from *here* in Illinois. Lola I've spoken to briefly, so I may have a chance to meet up with her. Danon5 I think may be traveling, so I'd have to miss him this trip. Now apparently is my chance to re-visit Houston and maybe even to pass thru Austin after all these years. To think I lived in Texas twice, and never once made it to the coolest parts of the state! I lived in Beaumont in the mid-80's and then in Dallas for a just a year, last year.

Now, if it weren't going to be so dang hot on the drive, I'd be a mite happier, lol!

PS. PM me if you have suggestions....

Sinkerhawk, Max, Marycat - we need ya'll to decide the best place to eat on Friday, July 25th at about 6 o'clock so we can all meet for a meal - plenty of room, let us talk for a couple hours, not overriding noise so we can hear each other, children allowed - mine will be with me. Looking forward to the meeting, it is getting closer Smile

It is best for me if it could be on the south side just off of I-35, but that is not a priority.

I'm not familiar with any restaurants in South Austin. My normal stomping ground is up here in NW Austin, Cedar Park, Pflugerville, and Round Rock. Unless we meet up here, I don't think I'll be much help. Sad

Just got word from cobalt and she is blasting through the middle of the USA like flash himself. At this time she is in Eureka, Missouri - about 370 miles NE of Tulsa. She is wide awake and very thankful for the rain and cool weather - air conditioner out. Here is a prayful best for the ones on the road and a thankful prayer for their safety!

For those who don't know, she is zooming to her son's graduation from Air Force basic in San Antonio and must be there by 3 pm on Thursday.

Considering that Cobalt may be on IH 35# to San Antonio a good plan would be for ya'll to meet at either Pappasitio's or Pappadeaux"s, both on IH and that would a straight shot to San Antonio.
Bill W.------>Best Prime Rib Old San Francisco..............Best darn steak (hands down) Dan McCluskys"
And then there is the Old Pecan St. Cafe on 6th street................
South Austin?.............hmmmmmmmmmmm Salt Lick , but that is in the southern hills and about 10 miles west out of some of ya'll that are going south.
Let me know and I'll call some friends of mine! Happy to help. Or.......OR! If ya'll decide to stay were Mac stayed close to the lakes (a safe place) then we can talk about Sam Hills............. Very Happy
Lola and ci there is a great Taco Bell in Georgetown, I know the Sheriff he will be happy to park your car. And going south to San Antonio.................NO SWEAT, stop over in News Braunsfels :
So, what do we want to do and where do we want to stay? Very Happy

Sorry, but I will not be able to make it to the Austin Gathering. I was selected as a member of the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury, and my service will be for one year. c.i.

I just got off the phone with cobalt. She's having "the time of her life" with her son and his friends, and promises a lengthy post when she gets the time and a computer to do so.

She plans to be on the road tonight and get to Dallas on Sunday thru Monday afternoon and then on to Oklahoma. She had been thinking about making a detour to Houston, but it's further out of her way than she realized.
