MG, I agree with Dag that grapefruit (one of the best fruits you can eat) would be better paired with a complex carb than eaten alone. Whole grain bread is very tasty and has some natural protein along with the carbs.

Glad you're feeling better and back in the swing Dag.

I just finished 24 mins on the bike at level 4 hills and 4 sets each of biceps, triceps, shoulders and abs. My abs are getting stronger as I was able to hold the bridge for a full 30 seconds vs breaking into two 15 seconds reps.

material girl--

I agree on the toast-with-grapefruit issue. If you don't like whole grain bread, consider Melba toast.

Red peppers are green peppers--ripe!

Dag--

Are you going to India to mediate or to bully? I'd guess that a muscular mediator has some advantages.

J_B--

I'm in awe of what you consider "inching up to a Real Workout".

Good job Dag in getting to the gym everyday! I made it to the gym yesterday too and got in 4 km! Plus a lil time in the pool to relax those muscles I had just worked. The back felt like I had been beaten after my walk on the treadmill but felt much better after the pool.
I woke up feeling like I had been to the gym but nothing unbearable. I hope to get to the gym today but have a busy day running errands so will have to see how that goes.
For breakfast I had fruit but only because I could not help nibbling while I was making my husband's lunch Razz Oh well. I will have to try to eat my breakfast BEFORE I make his lunch tomorrow Wink
I made Indian last night and it was extremely yummy! Curry "chicken", curry rice, steamed veggies and...sin of all sins home made onion garlic naan bread.
I will be consuming a lot of fruits and veggies today to compensate for last nights dinner Wink

yeah, i get to the gym, but my patience got a severe hit today (not to mention that it waivers and ultimately fails every monday when we have fantastic receptions with homemade food at work) - i went clothes shopping and was faced with the Mirror. You know them. The mirrors they put into the changing rooms either out of pure malice or for their entertainment, I don't know. No matter how much I weigh ever, I always look horrible and disgusing in those. Ever since high school, and I was very slim and fit then. Had a piece of lean meat with nothing now, and am going to the gym. If struck with outrageous hunger (possible, for i do stay at the gym for about 2 hours each time), I will only have tomatoes with fat free mozarella and balsamic vinegar and basil. That has to work. Repeat tomorrow. And day after. No mondays, no snacks, no nothing. no more Mr. niceguy. I'm done with myself.

Ick! I hate clothes shopping! And since I now live in Australia, they seem to wear a lot less clothing! What I mean to say is that the clothes they wear cover a lot less Razz I prefer to hide behind my clothes !
I am 63 cm and weigh 60 kilos; I would like to get down to 55 kilos one of these days! Why is it so difficult to lose a paltry 5 kilos??
Ah well, at least I can go to the gym again....knock on wood!

Dag--

One of the reasons that Curves is so popular is that there are no mirrors in the exercise rooms. Women don't enjoy admiring themselves sweat.

hm, i don't mind mirrors in the gym, in fact i prefer it. was trained as a dancer- so i like to check if my posture is right, cause if it isn't you're not exercising right and may end up damaging yourself. that, and i like to see myself move. i just do. now the changing room....grrrrr, that's a different story. i think they put special lightning in there to accentuate every little bump and curve on you, yuck.

Even worse than a three way mirror is catching a glimpse of your reflection in a store window or unexpected mirror. In a fitting room you expect mirrors. Nothing, nothing is more humiliating on several levels than catching an unexpected glimpse of yourself and tut-tutting about "that woman's flab" before you realize "that woman" is you.

My scales at home say Im 12s 8lbs(179lbs) yet the gym scales say Im 12s 1lb(170lbs).I know which one I prefer to believe.

I went to the gym last night.Worked up a yucky sweat walking for an hour.My pedometer said id only done 8000 steps!
Did a bit of rowing as well, and enquired about membership.

Had no snacks and had plenty(or more than usual)veg with my meal.

Really need to start working on my muscles, think Il grab a trainer when Im next there to show me what to do so I can compete with dagmaraka, hehe.

Had a shower after the gym and I saw my behind and stomach in a mirror from the side,it wasnt nice.

Dag - don't overdo it. It doesn't sound very healthy to be exercising that much on so little fuel.

MG - seems to be heading in the right direction. Don't worry about which scales show what - just use the same ones each time and look at the movement. Absolute weight isn't the object, is it?

As for me - slightly disappointed that my scales (the ones at home which I use to chart my progress) showed a slight increase since Tuesday - back to where I was on Saturday. Sad Must try harder. Personal trainer session tonight will help.

Good luck to all with holding those dominions!

KP

174.5, further down from Monday but still up from last Friday. It was quite a weekend!

The sun is shining so I'm headed outside for a walk as soon as I do my hamstring and quad exercises.

George's shorts are back!

i know kp. i'll slow down. not going to the gym today, for i can feel every muscle and every bone in me... but.. i am happy to report that i am 15 pounds down since christmas, and that includes gaining some serious muscle mass.
10-20 more pounds (something inbetween) and i'll be a happy camper. then to just keep it off...

Dag--

First the diet...then the rest of your life.

Materialgirl--

Exercised--and had no snacks! Good for you.

Kitchen Pete is absolutely right about not diverting your energy in a popularity contest for your favorite scale.

Ay--

You have my sympathy. Climate and custom are terrible tyrants.

7500 meters on the Concept II rower, aiya!

I was just not in the mood for it at all -- gut points
for me today. So of course there'll be that little
voice saying "Go ahead, George, have that piece
of cake. You earned it." I must be strong.
Vade retro me Satana!

Thank you Noddy 24.

Went shopping last night and bought one of those griddle pans for healthy eating so I can do those nice chicken dishes now.
Managed to misjudge the timing with my fish last night,it was cooked at the ends but not in the middle so I ended up just eating the peppers and salad I had with it.
Admittedly I had an apple turnover for pudding (which wasnt too nice so I wont get them again)but I had an apple later on.
