Clary, when I was in Bristol for a month, we ate no red meat at all. I had to walk to town (from Clifton) every day and I lost 15 lbs in 1 month. When I got home, I craved red meat so I ate a steak. I was in agony for 3 days. Now I rarely eat red meat. I'm convinced it's not good for us.
I'm sure you're right, Mame. There's lots of research out there about it but old habits die hard.
I've somehow managed to lose all the weight I gained over my multiple trips and actually weigh less than when I started to be within a couple pounds of my goal. Very little red meat in my diet lately, no alcohol since returning from New Orleans (plenty enough there), and trying to get back into a regular exercise routine.
Interesting that, Mame. I felt a real need for red meat when pregnant, or growing, but now, not bothered if I don't have it.
JPB--
New habits are taking hold? Good. How far are you from your ultimate goal?
I've been dieting for 7 weeks. Lost 6 kilos (13.2lbs). Aiming for about another 5kg's.
@Wilso,
You must be one of those lefties with a pot belly I assume. A fat rat.

I'm guessing that means something to you. **** knows what.
Down another 1.5 kilos. I'm actually lighter than I was in that picture for the first time in 3 years.
Unfortunately, I've also got significantly less hair!
@Wilso,
Quote:Researchers have found that men who have high cholesterol levels or heart problems are more likely to be bald, compared to healthy men. It could well be that the same diet that contributes to heart problems aggravates a tendency to baldness.

Not that I know Wilso.
@spendius,
I think Barnard also says that high cholesterol causes premature greying. With baldness and greying both a factor it might explain why a lot of meat-eaters wear baseball caps all the time, some in the house, or go in for head shaving.
@spendius,
I've been told that ladies hairdressing is largely built on hiding grey hair.
@spendius,
Let's revive this thread...unless I am the only one needing to lose weight?????
@the prince,
Also currently active are:

an Exercise Journal
and

@the prince,
I'm down 22 pounds so far...!
@sozobe,
I must be up 30 pounds since I quit smoking
@the prince,
Well time to get working on 'em!
Exercise doesn't cure all ills but it cures a lot of 'em (and makes a pretty good dent in depression too, often...)
@sozobe,
Wow, soz, 22 pounds! I wouldn't have thought you had that much to spare.
Congratulations!
