George--
Did you survive the road race?
Clary--
Good for you. Exercise is easy to avoid.
Joe--
Now that the crops are harvested and and the worries of a rural life are ended for another year.....
InfraBlue--
Very impressive. Say "hello" to your toes for us.
Tomorrow I start walking for a half an hour in the mornings. My piece of the Poconos has many hills and very few sidewalks along the picturesque roads, but I've found a hospitable church parking lot.
I'm just full of good intentions.
I read somewhere that you should exercise around 4-5 in the afternoon for best weight loss... can't think why. But I'm sure half an hour every morning would be good for you, whatever they say!
Clary--
I've read that late afternoon exercise revitalizes you for the evening. Unfortunately by late afternoon my Git Up And Go has Got Up and Went (along with my common sense, my good resolutions and my eye for future benefits).
Us weak-willed folks have learned to accomplish unpleasant chores early in the day because a Virtuous Glow is more comfortable than Nagging Guilt.
Hate that Nagging Guilt!! I agree, actually 5 pm is my worst time for wanting to eat; no way would I take exercise then! You have to go with your strengths...
Metabolisms and moral codes come with infinite variety.
Survived my road race and actually did better than I expected.
The Boston area got hit with heavy rains Saturday morning, but on the theory that runners are nuts anyway, the race went on. The race was not well organized and the numbers were not on waterproof paper and thus the road was littered with fallen numbers. This led to confusion at the finish and no results were available that day, but would be posted on the coolrunning website.
I kept my own time and clocked myself at 24:42 for 5 kilometers (3.1 miles). That put me at just under an eight-minute-mile pace. My goal was an eight-thirty pace, so I was quite pleased with myself.
I checked coolrunning this morning to see where they had me. The foul-up was even worse than I thought. They have me listed as 5th overall, with a time of 19:10 and a 6:11 pace.
Kinda funny, but I feel bad for whoever they mixed me up with. He ran a heck of a race and now some gimpy geezer gets the credit.
Congratulations, George. Are you sure there was an error?
In the True Geezer News, I walked for ten brisk minutes until my good hip began to complain. Tomorrow, I try for fifteen minutes.
Sounds like quite good news all round!
I'm still poking away. A definite case of "no news is good news" here, north of Lake Ontario.
More good news! Have lost another 10 lbs. over the past two months! (In spite of taking a cruise, at that!) Clothes are too baggy...must go shopping!
I have lost three ounces in the last week and look simply marvelous.
Eva~
One great big ATTAGIRL coming your way!
Gus~
Careful now. Don't upset the delicately balanced proportions of that Adonis-like physique.
It is a dangerous game I play, George.
Thought I'd gained a few pounds when my brother passed away and I drank like a fishy and didn't work out for two weeks but alas, I lost three more pounds anyway!
Real close to my fighting weight now.
ALL weights are my fighting weight, eoe.
Good job, eoe. Funny how some people lose weight during times of great stress and others pile it on. I've even had parts surgically removed and come home from the hospital heavier than when I went in. (Not Fair.)
Three whole ounces, Gus?
Would I still recognize you?
Eva--
Congratulations! You've earned the loss of every single pound. I'm very envious.
Continue holding your dominion, new wardrobe and all.
(shhh. nobody is supposed to know that Eva's birthday is coming up soon.
Shhh..damn it.)
