Really vigorous brushing also burns calories--even in the rain.

And the additional chin?
Started on the Body Trainer today. Not a bad workout at all. I can feel that my body has been worked, thighs, gluts, hips, arms, abs, everything's making it's presence known at the moment. I'm not sore really. Just 'awakened'. Been down this road too many times to be silly about it. I know to ease into a routine, no more than the recommended reps to start. But it feels good. I like the machine.
If I can't lose this newly acquired double chin, I'm having lipo done. I really hate how this weight gain has affected my face and if I must, I'll have that little procedure done and that will be it.

Well begun is half done. (One of the little bits of wisdom we copied over and over in elementary school to practice handwriting).

Do you lose weight evenly? Or do you start at the fringes and work downward and upward?

I'm a fringes person, myself. My face went from pudgy to bony, but my midsection still has lots of room for reduction.

Whenever I've put on any weight in the past, it's always been in the mid-section. That's my problem area. I'll never have abs like Janet Jackson. I accepted that many, many years ago. As far as losing weight overall and how my body sheds it, I can't really say because this is my first time actually trying to lose weight. I've had to tone things up in the past but I've always been somewhere between painfully thin as a child and slender as an adult. I quit smoking 2 1/2 years ago and gained twenty-five pounds before I even knew it. This whole weight thing is all very new for me. But I AM going to deal with it, once and for all. You'd better believe it. I'm tired of dragging all of this ass around and will never let this happen again.

good goin', eoe. Very Happy

I've found that having the light meal in the middle of the day is good - cuz I've got more witnesses! I'm wearing a pair of funky work-out pants that I bought late last fall, before I realized that I'd gained weight. I got them home, and couldn't get them on. Shocked Well, they fit last night, so I'm wearing them as part of my after-work gear now. Hooray! Now to i.d. my next target wardrobe item.

I've been on the Atkin's Diet for almost a year and quite pleased with the cosmetic effect of weight loss, but more important are the fringe bennies, my cholesterol count has gone from 265 to 175 - and my blood pressure has gone down and is consistently 120/80.

That's a little bit of okay.

Fitting in a brand new, old wardrobe. Very satisfactory.

Seaglass--

Aside from the lab work and the medical measurements, don't you feel better, too? Congratulations.

Hmmmmm....not feeling the effects of my first workout yesterday. No soreness at all this morning. That's not a good thing. So tomorrow I'll up the resistance and add more reps.

You're going to fit right in with the Jocks of Virtual Weight loss. They mutter masterfully, "No Pain, No Gain". Then through manly optimism they accumulate muscle strains and muscle tears and all sorts of painful inconveniences.

Could it be that you aren't stiff because you aren't completely out out shape? Than under the smoking poundage you're lean and mean and muscularly efficient?

Also, remember the third day is the hardest.

Gautam, that is progress.

Are you going to bring her some roses tonight for being such a sympathetic mom?

Enjoy the greenery.

Go everyone! Sounds like progress is being made all round (or "less round"!).

I'm on a slight plateau but trying to keep moving the numbers down and hold that dominion!

Black coffee, no sugar = nearly nothing!

Milk adds a few, cream more, sugar...obviously!

Holding steady at a healthy 145 lbs., but getting bad sugar cravings, a by-product of my condition. Refined sugars really screw with my system these days, so it's out the door with that for me now. Found some great fizzy fruit drinks that are only sweetened with fruit juice. They are all over 70% juice, and no refined sugar. Tasty too. I am increasing complex carbs as well, and doing research into liver-friendly foods. I hope to start a thread on recipes, once I have a few to post that are my own creations.
