Down to 236 this am.

Chopping up the fruit salad for lunch. (it's delicious).

Btw: yesterday, as I held the plate with cheese slices and spinach in one hand and had the other on the bag of sliced ham, I said out loud

"Hold your dominion."

and my inner self replied "What? Who's there? Who is it?"

Spinach is wonderful with a little lemon.

Still holding at 167.
Jogged 10 kilometers on Sunday, but had chowed down big time the night before.
Holding that dominion.

Good for you George. Perfection is still a way down the road, but you have the rest of your life to get there. Keep holding.

Back again and just a little smaller, 235.00, that's another pound down despite having three meals in restaurants in the past two days. This has been easy so far. I sat and watched in wonder as my dinner companions ate two, TWO, baskets of bread and creamed garlic butter before ORDERING.

The waiter gave me a look after I ate the steak but left all the wonderful little roasted potatoes sitting on the plate.

Joe Nation--

Those little roasted potatoes would have been delicious--even more so with a little extra butter. Your will power is growing as your girth shrinks.

I'm back to 135 (before that glass of wine I was 132) and wistful.

Hold your dominion.

Ordered the Total Body Trainer last night. Finally. It took weeks to make the commitment. I've got two weeks before delivery to get my head in order and my ass in gear. It claims to tone and sculpt in 30 days or your money back. We'll see. I'm not interested in getting my money back as much as getting rid of this girth and feeling better!!

I've been peeking in at this thread from time to time but guess I'll be a regular once the Trainer comes.

Hiama--

"This too shall pass" covers bodily infirmity. Has L'operation been scheduled?

Eoe--

I've found the most motivating way to regard a Miracle Machine is to divide the cost of the machine by the number of hours spent actually working out with the machine.

Join us now and go in training for the trainer.

Yeah, eoe, join the club! You don't need a machine for a good brisk walk. Nothing like walking as a way to get back into training. The Lovely Bride has started mall-walking with some of her friends and is enjoying it.

Walking bored me after awhile. Perhaps because I was alone, but that's what I preferred.

I'm real excited about the Trainer. It'll feel good to get these old bones moving again. I was desperate for motivation and this is it. I'm so looking forward to wearing all of my pretty summer clothes again. Haven't worn them in two years now.

Cheerful news for the underexercised:

The brain burns glucose all night long. It also burns oxygen, but oxygen doesn't have calories.

Can't burn glucose in the brain without oxygen - it's not capable of anaerobic respiration, unlike muscles when sprinting (though the lactic acid build up stops anaerobic excercise after a short time and requires oxygen for the liver to remove it).

Don't feel bad, George - I did 2 years of pre-clinical studies in medicine, then decided not to be a doctor. It's pretty specialist knowledge!

Good to see you- have I just been on he wrong threads?

Yours flabbily,

Checking in on all the patients here.
You've all been quite wonderful, held dominions and all.

I'm in week 3 of at least one salad every day. Almost blew it yesterday when I was invited out to join the V.P. on one of his power lunches Shocked I fell down on the ice twice this winter, and whacked the same knee both times. Walking with the dogs at night became a nervous thing - with some very short walks. We're back into our groove again now.

I've confirmed myself for a golf tournament in June, and am making plans for lessons, driving range sessions, and a couple of rounds as soon as the courses are dry. I am going to fit into the golf shorts I already own! I am NOT going to buy new W ones. (the W label technically means Women's, but I know it really means Wide Evil or Very Mad).

With the really painful, unhappy, knee, I wasn't in a good mood to post here, but I'm ready to re-start my life. Salad and cheese and raspberry vinaigrette and yogurt - I am yours.

Yesterday the Lovely Bride brought home some Krispy Kreme doughnuts. I'd like to say I refrained. I'd like to say I was strong and resolute. And I'd be lying if I did.

Oh, well. Good jog at lunch anyway. There's a railway bed that was converted into a bike/walk/jog trail near here. Perfect day for it. Sunny and 42°F (6°C).
