"Two steps forward and one step back
You do the Mohawk Rag and then you Ball the Jack.
Preacher, if you wanna spread joy
You gotta wait until the lights go out...

I SAY: Wait until the lights go out."

This morning I had to call the ambulance to take Mr. Noddy to the hospital again. He's not in any immediate danger, but all the same, I feel a bit stressed....

.....and I'm trying to believe that nibbling will Not Cure Stress.

Hiama--

Thanks for the kind words. Mr. Noddy has been diabetic for nearly 40 years and the disease is begining to be most inconvenient. I've been snowed in today--unable to visit the hospital--and have been finding isolation rather restful.

Last night I nibbled away--today I've felt more abstemious. Evidently good habits can be formed.

Best swim session so far-I have this workout-1400m warm up based on a series of drills then a choice of main sessions-so far can only manage a pyramid session of 500m based on 1x 25, 2x25m, 3x25m, 4x25m and 4x 25 m and back down again with 10 secs recovery-great feeling at the end though

Did 4 bike sessions last week, 5 swim sessions and 2 weight sessions, still no running maybe this Saturday if I am very very careful

So far this week, 4 swim session and one bike session

Hold your dominion or someone else's Very Happy

It was a nice sunny day today, with not much wind-a little cool at 8-10 C but I wrapped up warm and went for a nice 30 mile bike ride.

First 8 miles mainly uphill so quite hard work then mainly flat. Weather has meant not many outside rides, mainly in gym so today was a nice bonus communing with nature and soaking up some sun.

Tomorrow it is swimming, my favourite workout followed by brekkie then gym for my first circuit of weights this week, been neglecting them !

Well this week has its good and its bad points.

Firstly I have upped the swim sessions to around 2000m from 1000m in a couple of weeks and am still doing 5 session a week. This has put undue strain on me.

So I am going to keep the sessions at 2000m but reduce them to 4 a week and make at least one of them a no-pressure session, and at least one a drill only session as I am doing a lot osf struggle-swimming which aint pretty !

Good news is that I completed TWO run sessions so far this week, an average 5 mile on the road-legs felt wobbly and a toughish 4 miles on muddy tracks and a little hilly today.

So tomorrow will have a day off and on Sunday a swim -1500m timed but trying to retain an efficient form and an easy 25 miles on the road bike

Hiama--

You're in the running for the Blue Ribbon in the Most Reformed category. I've lost another pound and cranked the tension up a bit on my exercycle.

Meanwhile the snow is snowing and the sleet is sleeting and two-fisted carbohydrate gobbling would be most comforting.

Mr. Noddy is out of the hospital and being a bit obstreperous in order to demonstrate that he's Perfectly Healthy. Sap rises in the strangest places.

Noddy-watch that sap !

Glad to hear Mr Noddy is back and feeling a little better.

Bit of a breakthough yesterday ran my 5 mile route in around 5 mins quicker than last week mainly due to wearing shorts instead of full tracksuit, a little tenderness in the tendon but its holding -yEEEEE

Also beat my best on the Concept 2 rower on Sunday-5000 metres in a not so slow 18minutes 52 secs, not bad for a 50+ born again fitness person. Rest day from swimming today, yesterday was a good swim day and tomorrow for only the second time going to try for the 1500m -see what my time works out at-but I will be taking it easy. THen a weights session as have been letting that slip and strength is important.

Keep the faith and hold that dominion-wonder where KP is ?

And that upwardly mobile Gautam fella-after all this is HIS thread !!!

How very true Noddy, let he or she who has something to say be the first to say it !

I did my 64 lengths non stop at 7 am this morning-at 25 yards a length thats near enough 1500m being 1600 yards and took 4 minutes off my time from last month so if I can improve by the same again for the next couple of months I'll be ready, then there's just the bike and the run to worry about.

I ordered some Shimano road race shoes and an aero bar for my TREK bike today so the speed should improve a bit on the bike. Next will be some serious running over the next 6 months to get down to a speedier run phase.

Holding my dominion.

I'm back - I've been skiing for the last 3 weeks in Lake Tahoe, on the California/Nevada border.

It was great - I'm feeling fit, supple and my thighs are more toned than they've been in years - which should help with the bike phase of the tri.

Weight has not changed since I went away, which is great, as I'm sure I've put on muscle and lost a little fat...more loss of fat to go.

Back to my trainer tomorrow morning.

Won't be able to swim for a couple of weeks, as I have burned my arm and don't have all the skin on my forearm! Until that grows back, I'm not immersing it in water.

Hold your dominion folks - I know I'm holding mine!

KP,

Great to hear from you, sounds like you're doing well. I used to be a runner so I am hoping that I still have a few tricks there. Swimming was always going to be my bete noire not having learned front crawl until last October and I am still painfully going through a very slow learning curve.

Same goes for the bike as never did any riding worthy of the name just an old palm beach 3 gear job to School and back - a mile or two a day.

If you have any tips for swimming, i would be glad to swap ideas for a running programme -if you are interested.

You are welcome to pop down in the spring and we could do some training in the Sea-then maybe go for a run over the downs.

And I'm back!!! Did not do a thing for months, as I busted my knee in late October. For four days I have gone to the gym now and the knee is not complaining, yay. Today I stayed hour and a half, 40 mins on eliptical trainer, 2 rounds of weight machines, ran for 20 mins (2 miles). I'm back baby!!!

Hi folks.

It's been a month and I'm feeling fitter and slimmer.

I've lost about 6kg/14lbs since last October, and gained muscle, so I'm feeling and looking much better.

Now at the stage of being able to swim 25 mins followed by 30 minutes on the bike and 30 minutes run, back to back, without dying.

I now need to build the endurance and work up to full distance, while still keeping my diet under control...in order to lose another few kilos...about half way, I think!

I hope there's a lot of dominion-holding going on - how are you all?

KP

Congrats Pete!
I'm down about twenty pounds since August.
Got some weirdness going on in the left shoulder (rotator cuff? tendonitis?) so no upper body stuff. Starting to get more regular with my jogging.
Mr. Scale said "168" this morning.
