You won't be the only girl I've gone out with who has worn a helmet.

She DID say she was "special."

Ok you lazy lot I am back. I have been away for a week on a cruise around the Mediterranean and yes they did have a gym and yes for the first 4 days I went EVERY day. Weight is the same as before the cruise which surprised me and I'm off to my normal gym today.

Session will be 20 mins weights followed by 30 mins running just to ease myself back in, will report back in later.

Nice to be back

Life here is full of frustration and while I've been exercising daily, I"ve been nibbling hourly. I haven't gained, but I haven't lost--except for my gumption and ambition.

Thinking positively, this is a new day.

I have always found that lifting weights makes me hungry. Same thing, only worse, is true of fresh air and exercise you aren't used to doing.

cjhsa,

I agree , there is a point though when you have been doing it for some tome that the opposite effect kicks in and you seem to want to eat less.

Yesterday's gym session did the 20 mins weights, felt very tired doing my 3 miles on the treadmill-managed 24 mins 35 secs-not too bad, felt a nasty pain in my left calf muscle so will keep off treadmill now until Sunday.

Today's session was good, 20 mins weights then 5000m on concept 2 rower in best so far of 19 mins 47 secs-not so dusty !!

Whatever happened to our host-my mate Gautam ?

Very Happy

Maybe I'll try some of that steam. Eating half lunches this week (order a sandwich //eat half one day, half the next) earned me a sense of hungryness and a Loss of 1.4 pound this week.
Total loss for the month after the weekend barbecues;;;;;;;;

I am back too! After 3 colds in a month, am getting back to my feet. And trying Atkins diet - loving it so far. Had 2 fried eggs for breakfast, tuna fish with mayo for lunch, hee hee. I have to limit veggies and fruit (no problem). only thing i crave is sugar and potatoes. but it's the only diet i am able to follow. steak for dinner, yipeee!
had a busy weekend - workout in a gym and sauna on sat., 2 1/2 hour bikeride (some 30+ miles) and a sauna again on sunday. feel like one million dollars!

I don't know what I think of that Atkin's diet. I know it works, but it can't be healthy...just can't.

I haven't gone to the gym since last wednesday, was gone for the long weekend, now my liver hates me. I drowned him in beer.

I'll be dropping a 100lb dumbell on my melon tonight at the gym for sure.

Dagmaraka! Listen to Jane Brody! Jane Brody rocks!

http://www.nytimes.com/2003/05/27/health/nutrition/27BROD.html

Excerpt:

Quote:
The Atkins diet gained a modicum of respectability this month when scientists reported that two clinical trials found the high-fat, high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet did not cause disastrous increases in serum cholesterol and even reduced one or two cardiac risk factors.

The studies, reported in The New England Journal of Medicine, compared the effects on weight loss and cardiovascular risk factors of the Atkins plan with the conventional low-fat, low-calorie diet recommended by most health experts. Both diets resulted in weight loss, but participants on the Atkins diet lost more weight, faster.

But it is too soon to jump on the Atkins bandwagon in hopes of achieving bathing-suit slimness by the Fourth of July. Yes, the diet does help obese people lose weight quickly, and those wanting to shed 10 pounds in the next four weeks could achieve that goal. But the research suggested that by Labor Day many, if not most, are likely to be back to their starting weight.

The first five to seven pounds lost on Atkins are not fat but water, released by the body when it gets little or no starch or sugar from food. So as soon as you are unable to resist that bun with your burger or summer's succulent sweet corn, a cooling ice cream cone, thirst-quenching watermelon or a bag of fries, those lost pounds are likely to come bounding back.
