You folks are probably tired of hearing from me by now, but I had a great weigh-in yesterday. I was down 3.4 from my last weigh-in two weeks ago. I'm now officially down 115 pounds! Yippee!

15 more to get to goal.

This is so great.

Are there guidelines for when you get to goal? (I'm guessing very very incremental increases in some foods/amounts.)

Yes, osso, on Weight Watchers, after you get to goal, there's a six week maintenance period. You add "points" (i.e. calories) back in to see what it will take to maintain, rather than lose. I don't have all the details yet, but I think you have to keep your weight within 2 pounds of goal for six weeks. After that you're a lifetime member. As long as you don't go more than two pounds over your goal weight, you can attend meetings free for life.

I feel as though I already know how to maintain, since I've done lots of that!

Thanks, maporsche. I figure it will take several more months to lose the last 15.

Totally!

George, I think the not-going-to-the-gym-but-I'm-losing-weight thing may be about the metabolism getting speeded up (from the working out) combined with no new muscle mass.

At any rate that phase seems to be ending already (it's been probably 3 weeks since I last went to the gym), so will put some effort into getting back to the gym next week.

Mac--

You're a wonder--one of The Vanishing Breed.

George/Soz--

Perhaps knowing that you're burning fewer calories, you're eating a bit less?

I'm having another go-round of the nervous nibbles. Sensing this might happen I stocked up on blueberries and toasted corn.

Slurp and crunch. Slurp and crunch.

Five-Six more weeks of crazy days.

are ya nuts?

I love your updates. They are marvellously encouraging to read.

~~~
I'm on a small losing cycle - the scale and the pant/skirt fit show it. I hate eating when it's hot. Not sure this is smart, but I'll take the progress and try to maintain, not gain.
~~~

Tonight was the last practice before the recital.

Sunday night - I appear Shocked in my first belly dance recital. I'll be (I pray) in the middle diamond of the class - best for all involved that I'm not in the front row - but I'm not back row material - and I'm the middle middle cuz I can maintain the posture and smile (and know the routine enough that groups on both sides of me are to check where I am and stick with me).

Smile! and cross your fingers for me.

Fingers crossed!

We went to see some belly dancers recently and I thought of you. (In fact I thought of starting a new thread: "What made you think of A2K today?") Sozlet was absolutely enchanted, and got lessons from 'em (they were impressed), and when we came home wanted to assemble an entire belly-dancing outfit. Then she did several recitals for us.

Anyway, one thing that definitely made me think of you was the "smile!" part. Some people pulled it off with great naturalness, others had to WORK at it. One gal looked like there were puppet strings attached to the corners of her mouth -- droop, droop, whoops UP! droop, droop, UPSIE DAISY! It looked as difficult as the footwork, for her.

ha!

the less consistent smilers are at the back/outside edges of the diamonds - even if they're technically better

if my whoop-whoop can't make 'em smile, they're in trouble Cool

if you catch me around here singing 'crepes suzette <beat> crepes suzette', you'll know I'm practicing again - I like to 'sing' along with the music, but I don't speak/understand Egyptian - so I make stuff up that fits the rhythm <quite startled the instructor when she heard what I was singing>

I hit my lowest weigh-in and body fat % this morning:

182lbs and 18% body fat

It's been a good week, I don't think I've gone over 1500 calories and I've logged 8.8 miles running/walking with the dogs so far this week. I've got another run tonight (4 miles) and a 5 miler on Sunday so I'll report back Monday morning.

Great job, maporsche. Not going over a certain calorie limit is one thing. Not going under 1200 is another. Either is fine occasionally, but with the exercise level you're pushing you should pay attention to the bottom line as well as the top.

I have a gathering to attend in Milwaukee tomorrow. My social calendar gets a breather after that. Monday sounds like a good time to start another surge of paying closer attention to what I eat.

EhBeth--

A stage smile is extraordinarily difficult for many people. Given your enthusiasm for life, you wouldn't have a problem welcoming strangers to any sort of party.

Maporsche--

Very good. I'm envious.

JPB--

Is your life every anything but chaos or muted chaos? Hold your dominion.

We (= Mrs Walter and I) recently made the experience that due some stress and anger you loose quite a few pounds - though I honestly don't promote this procedure :wink:
