Well my trip is now almost over (I'm in the Phoenix airport again, waiting for my flight)....I'm happy to say that I don't think I ever went over 1600 calories any of the last 6 days. If I did go over it was because I couldn't judge how many ounces of peanut butter I ate on day with my celery.

I get to weigh in tomorrow morning to see if I saw any weight loss.

I've also been using a pedometer to gauge my daily steps. I think I averaged around 6,000, which isn't much.

I didn't hit the gym once during my trip. There were a few times I could have, but didn't have the energy. I'm giving myself excuses where there shouldn't be any though.

Maporsche--

At 1600 calories you certainly haven't gained any permanent weight. Be prepared for water weight--your body just loved all that unfamiliar, exotic no-cal liquid.

Congratulations!

Water weight, particularly when flying. Whatever the scale tells you on arrival, it should drop quickly once your back in your own environment.

It sounds like you did a great job being mindful, maporsche. Well done!

Well, last night was pretty bad from an eating standpoint. I had 2 slices of the biggest greasist Giodanis Chicago pizza, 4 buffalo wings, and 3 slices of cheesy bread probably an hour before bed. I'd only eaten about 750 calories before then, but still.

Today I weighed 186, which is almost 2 lbs heavier than Saturday. I'm sure some of that is still the food in my system, but still.

Oh well, today I'm back home, starting my workout, dieting system again, things are back to normal. 175 here I come.

Maporsche--

A certain amount of poundage fluctuation is normal.

All that lovely, greasy food will stick to your gut and then to your ribs--and I hope it was delicious.

This is the morning after the night before. Don't starve yourself all day to compensate--you might be tempted to another bedtime binge.

My one/two/three pounds have vanished again. Instant austerity does remove self-indulgent flab.

The weather forecast for the week is seasonable: hazy, hot and humid. I've found that I sweat a lot less if I keep my caloric intake within limits.
During the Dog Days, virtue pays off almost immediately.

maporsche, in addition to the food in your system, there's probably some water weight from the unexpected sodium intake too.

I weighed my all time lowest on my home scale yesterday - 174! The weigh-in that counts will be at my Weight Watchers meeting on Wednesday, though. The one that really, really counts will be two weeks from Wednesday when my regular leader comes back from vacation.

My goal of 159 seems more achievable lately. More muscle, less fat. Very Happy (Though there's still plenty of fat, believe me.)

mac--

174? Isn't that about 15 pounds lighter than you were in NYC in June?

In any case it's a wonderful achievement.

Hold your dominion.

Oh, no, Noddy, I'm not moving that fast. I was about 178 when we met in NYC in June.

You have my undying admiration, I have reached the don't care phase and have probably put on 6 lbs without bothering to find out. I have bought an exercise bike though and love biking through TV that I would otherwise feel guilt for watching!

This has somewhat worked for me as well. I'm trying to only watch television when I'm walking/running on the treadmill. I've even moved my TIVO to the basement where the treadmill is.

The last few weeks have been iffy, but at one point I had spent 3 hours on the treadmill walking while catching up on my favorite summer TV show, The 4400.

Great idea.

Yeah, I see daily variances of 1-2 lbs pretty consistently. I've since been looking at my weight loss on rolling 7 day averages to help eliminate this variance. For example, my weight today is 186, my 7 day average (including today) is 184.2, and my day 8-14 average is 186.8, so I'm down 2.6lbs this week.

It really works for me to look at it this way.

...and it was delicious.

Isn't it embarassing how often we gorge on food that is not delicious?

Many years ago, when I was training for a marathon, I got the hungries in
the middle of the night. I went to the kitchen and ate a pint of sour
cream with some saltines.

Hiya George!

Gym mom and I tried to get together yesterday but schedules didn't work out, and she's about to leave on a week's vacation. I'm going to see if I can get E.G. home early enough for me to go, but I'm still accepting of the possibility that I won't really be able to put anything together until school starts. That's only about a month, I'll live. (Meanwhile, disconcertingly -- this happened last year too -- I seem to be losing more weight since I've stopped working out than WHEN I was working out. That'll fade out soon enough.)

I know where it's going, soz. You can have it back. I'm still hovering in the upper 170s. Chiro said no workouts for another 2-3 weeks. Short walks are ok. I need to get off my butt.

Hiya right back!

That happens to me too!
I wonder whether there's a falling-off of appetite?
Or maybe the same things that cause you to neglect your workout
provide enough other activity to keep burning the fat?
